Hi Everyone.
Happy Monday and greetings from a snowed in Minnesota!
I got to spend some time in my craft room yesterday. It was great because I made cards for people that I needed to send cards to.... it felt really good making something for a specific reason and I really enjoyed myself!
I needed an anniversary card for my besties and knew that I wanted to use one of the new stamps that I received for Christmas. Cosmos flowers are of special significance for me. Cosmos is prolific where I lived in South Africa in spring and we used to go driving just to see the large fields of those gorgeous flowers in the spring sunshine. I also used to pick some and put them on the dining table for dinner parties at that time of year. They are some of my favorite flowers and I was so excited when I saw that Altenew had created a stamp set to celebrate them.
I needed a sketch - and saw this great sketch across at Casethissketch
It provided the perfect inspiration for my card and I immediately knew how I would use the sketch to showcase the beautiful flower.
I began by embossing the cosmos flower and stem using the new rose gold embossing powder I also got for Christmas :-) I bought the embossing powder to match the fabulous My Minds Eye Blush paperpack that I absolutely love. There is a piece of the paperpack that has beautiful hearts on it and that is where I drew the colors from for the card.
I fussy cut the flower and the stem and embossed the flower with the rose gold for the flower and gold for the middle of the flower. I also added a gold glitter dot to the middle for a little more texture. Here's a closeup of the flower:
I'm sorry the light wasn't good today as it really doesn't show how pretty these colors are.
I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of cardstock. I stamped the Happy and the Anniversary with different color embossing powders to match the flower. I mounted the sentiment layer on a piece of fun foam and then mounted the flower on foam dots.
Here's my full card:
I was really tempted to put a thin strip of gold mirror card above and below the sentiment.... but I decided not to as I didn't want to detract from that gorgeous flower.
On a personal note:
Well the world does look pretty with all of this wonderful white stuff on the ground. If I can, I will try and get out to take some photos for you tomorrow.
In the meantime, I will leave you with a wildlife shot.
We might have been enjoying the snow... but I am not sure the deer were that thrilled. I couldn't get a decent shot as I didn't want to go out onto the balcony, so had to take it through the screen door.
I'll be back tomorrow night with another card that I made. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
Card recipe:
- Stamps: Stunning Cosmos - Altenew
- DSP: My Minds Eye - Blush
- Embossing Powders: Rose Gold - Lawn Fawn. Fine Gold - Altenew
Indeed, a very beautiful card, Jaydee. What a wonderful flower and color you used. I am not familiar with cosomos. Remind me of poppies and ranunculus which I loved when living in CA.

Such a lovely card! The flower is gorgeous and I'm sure your friends will love this! I really like the rose gold together with gold embossing powder.
Your deer looks less than thrilled with all that snow. I always wonder how they survive in these very cold temps of winter.

Love this beautiful card, Jaydee. The single embossed flower on top of that DSP is gorgeous. Your friend will be thrilled to receive it. Enjoy your day!
