Hi Everyone. Happy Monday
Hope you are all having a great start to the week and staying warm!
I saw this gorgeous photo across at Just Add Ink this weekend
Considering we are still in the midst of winter with incessant cold temperatures, seeing this photo just made me so happy!
I am still getting through my classes at the Altenew Educator Certification Program and needed some cards as part of that. This photo gave me the perfect excuse to use one of my new favorite sets - Stunning Cosmos and it was ideal for the class as I needed one more card for the Easy Die Cutting class homework.
As I've told you before... I am not a PINK girl... but find that I am obsessed with the new blush color that you see everywhere these days. It's such a stunning variation on pink... it's a bluepink, it's a cold pink, it's a peachy pink, it's... well just everything! I swear I came all over all girly trying to describe it :-)
Anyway, on to the card.
I began by stamping the cosmos flowers onto Neenah Solar White card stock with versamark and using blush embossing powder. I die-cut the flowers with my newly arrived dies and added some Glossy Accents to the middle of each flower. While the glue was still wet, I added some tim Holtz Distress Glitter to the middles and left them aside to dry. Once they were dry, I took a marker and colored the distress crystals yellow. I also used a clear brush Zig marker to add a little color around the middle of the flower, leaving some of the area white.
here's a closeup of the flowers:
I paired it with a piece of DSP from the My Minds Eye - Blush paperpack and stamped the sentiment in the same blush embossing powder. All I had to do was mount the flowers and I was done.
Here's my full card:
The paper and the embossing powder are such a perfect match - as is the zig brush marker - they all came together so well and I was so happy with the outcome.
On a personal note:
OK. It's STILL cold. I know you must be very tired of hearing me say this... but... it's been such a long run of cold that I don't even want to leave the house. Thank goodness I have the Olympics to distract me during the next two weeks :-)
Even though it might be cold outside, the animals and birds still go about their business and I was thrilled to see a pretty rare visitor to our garden soaking up some sun and looking for some seeds. We get lots of the usual grey and black squirrels, but very rarely do we see the Fox Squirrel.
I couldn't get out to the deck as I didn't want to scare him - so I had to take a photo through the deck railing. then, as he was sitting inside the area that we have cordoned off to deter the deer, I have that in the shot, too. But, hopefully, you can still see how magnificent he is.
He really is the most gorgeous color, so you can see why he is called a Fox Squirrel. I read that December to February is one of their bi-annual mating periods, so hopefully he has a found a mate and we will get more of these darlings in the woodland.
I'll be back tomorrow with another card - and another photo. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
