Hi Everyone.
I have a card and a winner announcement for you in tonight's post :-)
Firstly, let's start with the card.
I'm down to my last two AECP classes and tonight's card is for the "Celebration Stencil Techniques". This is a fun class that is designed to give you ideas and tips and tricks on getting more mileage out of your stencils and dies.
I was inspired by the lesson - create a stencil from your dies. I needed to make a Valentine's card for a very good friend... heck... why shouldn't we send pretty cards to our girlfriends to celebrate Valentine's day and let them know how much they are appreciated????? :-)
I used two butterfly stencils from my stash to create a two layer stencil. A solid image as well as a more intricate, lacy, die which normally acts as the overlay.
I repeat stamped the solid image over my card base in a lovely pale Altenew pink ink and then went back over with a slightly darker pink with the lacy stencil.
Have a look at what I mean:
You can see the paler solid image and then the lacy stencil was placed right over it and I used a blender to blend the darker pink over the solid layer. To make sure that I didn't mess up the area around the stencils as I was blending the second image over - I used the negative image of the solid die as a mask - here's what I mean
The second die-cut stencil fits perfectly into the solid die-cut image and placing it over the original solid images meant that I could blend that very detailed stencil with a blender and keep the area around the butterflies clean.
Of course.... I had to add some shine to my card and decided to do that with some gold glitter card stock. I varied the size of the top and bottom and then added a die-cut whole butterfly in the gold cardstock as well. The sentiment is from the Stunning Cosmos set - and I stamped that and heat set it with superfine gold embossing powder.
Here's my girly card:
I love the idea of using my die-cuts to create a stencil and really need to use this technique again!
Now... onto the winner of the draw for the Altenew class - "Let it Shine". I wrote each comment onto a piece of paper.... balled them up... and then let Bilbo choose a winner. Whichever piece of paper he decided to play with - was the one who won the prize. So... who did Mr Bilbo Baggins choose?
Evelyn, I will send you an email as I will need a little information from you so that I can purchase the Let It Shine class. I hope you enjoy the class :-)
I'll be back tomorrow with my final card for the AECP classes. Oh... and have another little blog candy on offer - this time it's a die :-) So, I hope you will come back and join me again tomorrow. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
