Lucky to Call you Friend - Addicted to CAS #131
03 March 2018
Hi Everyone.
Happy Saturday. It's my turn to host our challenge at Addicted to CAS this week and I have this as a code word for you:
When I decided on this code word I had thought of creating a St Patrick's Day card, but changed my mind when I sat down to create the card. I realized that there were so many sentiments that you could use including "lucky to have you in my life", "wishing you good luck", "good luck", etc. So, I looked through my stash and found a sentiment that is intended for the inside of the card, but what's wrong with changing things up and using it on the outside instead? :-)
I also needed to make a card for the last of the Level 1 classes for AECP, so used a set from the class - All About Layering 2. I decided on the Beautiful Day set - as it's been quite a while since I used it and it really deserves some love!
I began by cutting out a gold foil frame from the Create a Wreath set and worked out where I would place it on my card front. I then stamped the sentiment inside the middle of that area and got to work on the flower.
I used the colors from the new Altenew ink - Tea Party. (This set is quickly becoming my favorite!) I don't have dies for this set, so had to fussy cut around the flower and did the same to the leaves after I had stamped them.
Of course, I had to add a little shimmer with my gel pen. Here's a closeup of the flower:
If you look carefully at the center of the flower, you can see that I added some black Irresistibles to add a little texture and then added a yellow enamel dot to the center of the flower.
I mounted the gold oval using some Stampin' Up! foam tape and then mounted the flowers and leaves.
Here's my full card:
I love this sentiment - its from the Beautiful Inside stamp set and I think it works perfectly on the outside of the card :-)
I hope you will join us and play along with my challenge. If you do, and you are chosen as the winner, you will win a $20 gift certificate from the fabulous Kylie and her shop Happy Little Stampers:
If you are looking for some inspiration, you have to look no further than our fabulous design team creations, including the fabulous St Patty's day card from our Guest Designer - Wendy who lives in Ireland!
I'll be back tomorrow with my Paper Players card - and some wildlife shots! In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

What a wonderful card, Jaydee. I love the way the sentiment sits in the popped up oval. The flowers are colored and embellished beautifully. What a great card for a special friend.

There are few words to use for this card -beautiful and stunning come to mind. You have me thinking about what sentiments I could use for card fronts. Just lovely.

Gorgeous Jaydee! Love the big, bold flower and using the sentiment on the outside. The gold frame just finishes it off so nicely! Great code word this week and I went to check out the design team and gallery, so fun! My daughter is an Irish dancer so this challenge just speaks to my heart...and who doesn't like to see a spot of green this time of year. I'm craving it everywhere, on my cards, a new houseplant, and even the clothes I wear. Funny huh!
Wishing you a lovely Sunday and rest of your weekend!

Hi there, Jaydee ~ This is such a gorgeous card! I love how you layered the bloom and leaves, and how you placed the sentiment inside the oval aperture...so CAS and absolutely beautiful! Thanks so much for selecting such a fun code word for us, too :)
