A Sunny Hello - ATCAS #133
Hello Birdy

Happy Birthday to You. Happy Birthday to You... Happy Birthday, dear......

Hi Everyone

Happy Easter!

It's the fabulous Laurie's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a theme challenge for us

I decided I would make a gender neutral birthday card and the fabulous badge that Nance created inspired me to use the music on the background.  Also, Lou is complaining about the number of flower cards I have made, so I needed to go in a different direction.     Note to Lou:  Only 2 of the past 6 cards on my blog are florals :-)

Anyway, back to this card.... :-)   I went with a subtle background and inked up my stamp with a light brown and created the musical background.   I used the Altenew Halftone Happy to create the main part of the sentiment.  I popped that up on the card base and inked up the bird from the Altenew Wild Hibiscus set and perched him on top of the sentiment.

Here's a closeup of the musical background:

This card came together really easily and I live the mix of black, brown and vanilla.  The earthy tones are a real departure for me :-)  To finish off the sentiment, I stamped the Happy Birthday from Label Love and cut off the "happy" part of the sentiment as I only needed the "birthday".  I popped that up over the Halftone Happy with foam dots.

Here's my full card:

Of course, I had to complete the inside:

I hope you will join us this week and play along with Laurie's theme challenge.  As usual, if you are looking for some inspiration, you have to look no further than our fabulous design team creations:

On a personal note:

OK... It's the 1st of April and I am looking out of my window at snow.  We had another storm yesterday that dumped 6" on top of what was already there.  The sun is shining and it looks gorgeous, until you realize that the sky is a very cool blue and the temps are 20 degrees below normal!  And... I am STILL cold.  I have never felt the cold as much as I have this winter.  Oh... I am so looking forward to seeing the snow finally melt and some little green shoots make their first appearance.

It's wonderful though to hear the early morning mating call of the Chickadees, I can think of worse alarm clocks :-)

I'm off to my craft room to finish up the cards for the AECP classes - and those will include some florals, sorry Lou.  As I want to make some more cards for the Altenew parents day card drive, I will be doing some masculine and feminine cards.

Marsha - you asked if Altnew would accept cards made with products from other companies for their card drive.    The answer is YES ABSOLUTELY.   :-)

I'll be back later with another card.   In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a lift.   Easter blessings to my Christian blog friends and happy Pesach, to my Jewish ones :-)

Card recipe:

  • Stamps:  Happy Halftone.  Bird:  Wild Hibiscus.  Birthday: Label Love.   All Altenew.   Background music stamp:  Fun Stamper's Journey

I love this card. Simply understated but beautiful! It's my kind of card.

Such a gorgeous and elegant card in its subtle neutrals, Jaydee. I love your background and can almost hear the bird singing. PS- tell Lou that Sandy never tires of your floral creations!

I love this card Jaydee! Your choice of three neutral colours really adds a sense of depth to your design. A beautiful alternative to flowers, but I don't ever tire of those either! Easter blessings and keep warm!

You had me at the bird, or both birds, really! Love that subtle musical background, but really...the bird. Love them!

I love the elegant feel of this card in the neutral color palette. And the bird "tops" it off perfectly! I hope you're having a great week ~ Hugs, Annie
