Happy Birthday
Stunning Cosmos - Wonderful Day

HI Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous LeAnne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's a color challenge.

And.... oh, boy! was this a challenge for me!  Those of you who have been (thank you all so much...) following me for a while, know that PURPLE isn't my color.  Pink isn't really my color - but purple even less so.  Don't get me wrong.... I LOVE purple - and violet in particular, but I   am very rarely compelled to use it on cards.  Add to that, I don't have my SU stamp pads anymore..... so I was really in a pickle.     However, and I say this every challenge - that's what being part of challenges is all about.  Taking us out of our comfort zone and stretching us - and our supplies - and it's a VERY good thing!

I had a new stamp set sitting on my craft desk.  Courtesy of my hubby and a birthday gift card!  I hadn't inked it up yet and decided that I would use it for my card.

I stamped the various layering elements of the Sweet Rose Bouquet set with three shades of purple to give me the Eggplant and Wisteria colors.   I stamped the key elements onto the front of a Neenah Solar White focal base layer and the others I die-cut and mounted on foam dots.

Here's a closeup of the flowers.  What you can't see in the photo is that I used a purple gel roller to add a little shimmer and shine on the flowers.

I popped up the focal layer on fun foam and placed it onto a Wisteria Wonder card base.   The next issue for me was knowing where to put my sentiment.  I generally put the sentiment on the right and near the bottom of the card.  That wasn't going to work with this arrangement, so I played around with a couple of different positions before deciding to go the opposite to my normal placement - upper left :-)

Here's my card:

In the end I was pleased with the card, but for some reason, my camera doesn't like to photograph purples and gives everything a more blue tinge and the tranquil tide-isa colors aren't as deep in the photo either.  I think I might need to go and find out how to fix that either on my camera, or in my photo editing software.

I hope you will play along with us this week.  As usual, if you are looking for some inspiration, you have to look no further than our design team creations.

On a personal note:

OK... so, it's the 8th of April.  It was down at 8 degrees on Thursday and we have a foot of snow on our deck - oh....and we are expecting more snow tonight.   Come on Mr Winter, it's time to give up your grasp and let us have some warmer weather and some rain :-)

The one thing about the snow.... it makes it easier to see this guy!  However, he is incredibly shy and will run as soon as he hears the click of the door lock, so I can only capture him on camera through the glass - and the screen.   He did look gorgeous in the sunshine yesterday though :-)

Look at those stunning colors and how beautiful they look in the sunshine.   The females were around - but they aren't spending a lot of time with him yet.

I'll be back tomorrow with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
