Crafty Friends Birthday for Addicted to CAS #138

Happy Birthday Shaker

Hi Everyone.

Oh.... I have ANOTHER non-floral card for you tonight!  Of course, that means that I am overdue sharing a floral card :-)

This is the penultimate card  for the Level 3 Altenew Educator Certification Program.  I can't believe that I am almost at the end!

One of the classes was "Sentiments with Impact".  I took insipiration from one of the lessons that showcased multi-colored sentiments.

I needed a birthday card and decided this was the perfect opportunity to bring out one of my die-cuts and use a mixture of green, blue and gold on a stacked sentiment.  I used my blending tools for the green and blue and then gold embossing for the bottom of the die-cut sentiment.  I was really happy with how fabulous the colors looked together.  Here's a look at the colors - you can just see the difference between the dark teal and dark green

I dipped the bottom of the HAPPY into my versamark pad and then gave it a distressed look with gold embossing powder.  I die-cut 4 layers of white 80# Neenah Solar White cardstock to give it some lift off the card.   I used the Label Love Happy Birthday sentiment and cut off the "Happy" and popped up the birthday.  I love how the black pops against the colors in the happy.

Next I die-cut the frame from my shaker card and added some gorgeous sequins with colors that were a really good match for the blended color sentiment.  I got these sequins as a present in a birthday card from my Addicted to CAS teamie - Susan.  I love them as they are a mixture of large and small, square and round, blue, green, white and silver.  I'd been saving them for a special occasion.

Originally I put normal acetate behind the die-cut layer, but the sentiment lost its pop.  I decided to overlay it with a layer of vellum to make it a little more opaque and that worked really well.  You can still see the sequins, but they don't overpower the sentiment.

Here's the full card:

Now the sentiment really pops :-)

I did manage to get out and take a couple of photos today, but haven't been able to upload them.  I will do that tomorrow and will share them with the final card that I have to share for the certification course.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee
