Happy Birthday Shaker

Thinking of You

HI Everyone.  Happy Tuesday.

I have a quick post for you tonight.  This is the card that I made for my Altenew Educator Certification Program Level 3 class - Creative Watercolor Media.  One of the lessons was to use shimmer sprays as the watercolor medium.  I don't have a lot of sprays..... actually I have 3 :-)  So, those three colors dictated the colors for the card!

I know..... back to florals... I can just hear you all :-)  I didn't use to create a lot of floral cards until Altenew came along.  So it's all their fault :-)  But they really do make some gorgeous floral stamps.  The Build a Flower Magnolia is no exception.  It's one of my go-to staples.

I stamped the flower onto watercolor cardstock and then used my turquoise, green and shimmer white sprays to create the colors on the flowers.   Here's a closeup of the colors - you can also see where I used the shimmery white spray on the focal layer.  The champagne color works really well with the gold embossing and the green and blue.

Because I liked the look of the champagne color in the background, I decided to replicate that on the card base.  I had some old champagne shimmer cardstock that I used to create engagement party thank-yous for our DD.  I took a piece of what was left and adhered that to a Neenah Solar White 110# card base.   I popped the flower up using foam stip and added the sentiment.

Here's my full card:

Here's the inside - sorry it isn't in focus!

Of course, I had to add a little something to the envelope:

This card is on its way to a friend who is going through chemo and had to shave her head.  I hope she does realize how beautiful she is when she gets this card.

I'll be back tomorrow with another card and I hope to be able to add some bird photos for you, too!  The weather has certainly been good enough to get outside so I hope to be able to take a quick break and get some photos.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight - and I hope you all feel beautiful today.

Hugs

Jaydee
