It's a celebration - Paper Players #400
Stunning Cosmos Birthday

Bold Butterfly

HI Everyone.

I've been on a bit of a coloring binge this weekend from watercolor to Copic to pencils.  I just needed some downtime and an excuse to switch off and just focus on something different.  COloring always does that for me.  So, you will be seeing a few different cards this week :-)

The ladies across at Just Us Girls are having an anything goes week, so this butterfly card seemed like a great card to submit for the challenge.

Although I missed the Color Throwdown challenge, I did love their bold bright colors of green, yellow and blue, so decided I would use them anyway!

I got a little pressie - some new watercolor pens from Winsor and Newton and wanted to give them a try.  This big image was the ideal thing to use.  I also got some Winsor and Newton watercolor paper.  Oh..... boy!   this is my favorite alltime watercolor paper.  It is amazing!!!!  It soaks up as much water as you can throw at it and still doesn't warp.  The colors also blend so beautifully.  Oh... and I liked the pens, too :-)

I started by stamping the bold butterfly onto the Winsor and Newton paper with Stazon.  I then used the Winsor and Newton blue, green and yellow pens and colored in my butterfly.  I made sure that I let it dry thoroughly before adding some spatters and some sequins.

Here's a closeup:

If you look closely, you can see the bright green and blue splatters - and you can also see how well the watercolors blended together.

I tried putting this iamge on a white background.  You all know I am addicted to white backgrounds but, in this case, it absolutely washed out this gorgeously, bold colored butterfly.  So, I raided my stash and found a perfect green to act as the backing.   I wanted a bold, black sentiment and the Altenew Label Love is perfect for it.

Then, I added some sequins which were in my stash.  This card is for a fellow crafter who is just about to go through her final rounds of chemo and I wanted to let her know just what an inspiration she is

I decided to keep the inside very simple:

I'll be back tomorrow with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Wow Jaydee, I think this is the prettiest butterfly I’ve ever seen! Such a lovely image and the colors are amazing together! I’ve never heard of water color pens, interesting. I’ll check out how those work on YouTube. Your friend is going to love her card!!
