Golden Rose for Paper Players #411

Hi Everyone.

Happy Sunday.   It's my pleasure to host our Paper Players challenge this week and I have a sketch for you:

To make my card I used some papers that came in my September Tonic crafting kit.  I love the imprinted leaves on the shiny paper and mixed it with some of the glitter paper that came in the same pack.   I generally don't use a lot of shiny paper, but loved the colors and texture.  Here's a closeup of the paper:

Isn't that just gorgeous?  I really do love all of that wonderful texture. :-)   I decided that the flower needed to have some bling, too.   I used my favorite Build a Flower - Rose from Altenew and used brown inks for the base of the flower, but the final layer I used my versa mark pad and some of the wonderful coppery colored embossing powder that also came with the Tonic Craft kit.   I love the way the flower turned out.  I also used the same embossing powder for the sentiment.

Here's a closeup of the two papers with the embossing powder on the rose:

Instead of using the die-cut for the flower, I fussy cut around it.  I really didn't want the small vanilla border that would have come from using the die.   I stamped and die-cut the leaves and then mounted the rose on foam dots.   I also used some embossing powder - verdigris - on the leaves.

Here's my full card:

I then used another rose stamp set from Altenew - Vintage roses - for the inside of the card:

On a personal note:

This time last week it was in the 90s.  Yesterday it was down in the 40s!  I swear I was cold the whole day.  I was in my craft room and could hear the crinkly leaves starting to fall every time the wind blew.  All of our summer birds have flown south, even our hardy little Hummingbirds left us two days ago.  The massive storms we had a couple of days ago would have been the final straw for them.

We had a wild night with 60-70 mph winds accompanied by tornadoes.  The weatherman said it had been a very, very long time since he had seen tornadoes accompanied by such high winds.  We watched him run the weather for about 30 minutes.  The worst of the storms were south of us, but the tornadoes did pick up some private planes at a small regional airfield and toss them around  and a couple of farms were destroyed.   It was the longest band of storms I have ever seen - stretching from Texas to the Canadian border.  Mother Nature was really not having a good night!

We did have a visitor to our birdbath this week.  A Juvenile male Rosebreasted Grosbeak.  He didn't stick around very long, so it was hard to catch a decent shot of him.  But he still has the brown markings of his juvenile status, but his rose breast was coming in.  So, he looked like a cross between a male and female Grosbeak.  You can see that the ends of his wings are taking on the solid feathers, with the white window vents, but he still has the striping on his back.  He will soon have that gorgeous dark black back that is so characteristic of the males.

I'll be back tomorrow with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Oh my word! Glorious and golden! The paper is indeed wonderfully textured and interesting. I like the way you've adding embossing to the layers of stamping in the rose and the leaves - I've not seen that done before. It makes for such a pretty result. Fabulous work!
