Happy Sunday. It's the fabulous Claire's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's a theme challenge:
I needed a thank you card and decided to use some of the fabulous oranges, rusts and yellows from Nance's awesome badge as the inspiration for my colors.
I began by heat embossing the Sketched Flowers stamp with gold. I really love this stamp from Simon Says Stamp. I love the size of the stamp and also the whimsical assortment of flowers and leaves.
Once the gold heat embossing was cool, I went to work with my Copic markers. I have to tell you, this coloring took longer than it should have! I wanted just the right mix of oranges, yellows and rusts and it was difficult to get just what I wanted. Once all the color was done, I added a layer of shimmer and shine with a Nuvo glimmer brush - it has a wonderful warm goldfish tone to the glimmer and it was perfect for my color scheme.
Here's a closeup of the coloring:
The hardest part of this, was deciding what color base to use! I tried white. Nah... .didn't work. I tried Cajun Craze..... just a little too dark. I tried two different yellows.... too pale! I was honestly beginning to feel like Goldilocks.. nothing was quite right. Then, I pulled out a piece of Pumpkin Pie - and voila. It felt just right!
Here's my card:
I needed lots of space on the inside for my thank you note - so kept it pretty simple
I found a pumpkin color envelope and stamped the same image on the edge of the envelope - and on the back.
You can see the shadow from the focal layer. I mounted that on fun foam onto my Pumpkin Pie base and also did the same with the sentiment. I like the additional height and the fun foam goes through the post really well.
I hope you will join us this week and play along. As usual, the design team have some incredible inspiration for you:
On a personal note:
Thank you to all of you who left comments on my Paper Players post last week. It was wonderful to read YOUR stories about tea and the memories drinking tea evokes. Who would have thought there were so many of us tea drinkers out there! I really enjoyed reading all of the stories. If you missed them, you can check out the comments on this post.
Well..... the woodland really has lost all of its richness of flora and fauna and is looking distinctly autumnal.
Our oak tree is the only tree with any color. Almost all the other trees lost their leaves without giving us much color this year.
I'll be back tomorrow with another thank you card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
