Wonder and Magic of Christmas for Paper Players #418

Hi Everyone.

Happy Sunday.  It's the fabulous die-cutting queen Laurie's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's a color challenge:

Oh!  I was so tempted to do something floral with this color scheme, but fought my instincts and decided to do a Christmas card instead!  I purchased a new stamp and cut set from Hero Arts called Wonder and Magic of Christmas.   I got it 20% off at Ellen Hutson during her sale!

Poppy Parade is another one of those colors that I just NEVER use... it's way too bright for me.  Generally, during color challenges, I go all out and try to embrace it, but I just couldn't, but I had to find a way to feature it prominently... albeit in a small way :-)

I used the reindeer from the set and gave him a Poppy Parade nose :-)

I love the bright Poppy against the Soft Sky :-)  I needed to incorporate the Saffron and the stars in the stamp set seemed the ideal use of the Saffron.   The hardest part was to stamp the magical stars and not making it look as though Rudolph(ina) was.... well... farting stars! :-)

Here's the front of my card:

I carried the Poppy through to the inside of the card with the sentiment -such a pity I didn't manage to get it into focus!!!!!

I carried it through to the envelope as well :-)

I hope you will join us this week.  As usual, if you are looking for some inspiration, the design team have some wonderful creations for you - including ones that really showcase Poppy :-)
On a personal note:

Snow on the ground.  yep... again!  I think the only place to be is at my craft desk, hiding from the wind and the snow :-)  I really haven't had time to create recently, but have to catch up with some of the cards I need to make for my Paper Player and ATCAS challenges for the rest of the year.  It's hard to believe that we are almost half-way through November.

The good thing about the leaves having dropped and the grasses going brown is that we finally get to see the deer in the yard.

I'll be back later with my Rembrance Day post.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift today.
Hugs
Jaydee

Such a pretty little nose and as always you keep me entertained with your cards and your visitors in the grasslands.

laurie

So fun! I just love his bright red nose!!!

I like the way you used the colours, Jaydee. It takes a certain amount of creative bravery to use some of the colours sparingly. I often feel the need (erroneously) to give them equal space on the card! Your Rudolph is fabulous and I couldn't quite un-see the image of him farting stars!

LeAnne

This is a great way to incorporation all those colors, and they were challenging! But I LOVE your little deer (stamped AND real), and his nose is the cherry on the cupcake!

Jaydee, I'm happy to see I'm not the only one who thought of Christmas with these colors. I love your interpretation; the little red nose is adorable and the yellow worked perfectly for your "swoosh". And no - it does not look like Rudolphina is farting stars, lol!

Claire Broadwater

Jaydee, this is such a great way to use the colors! Your deer with his poppy parade nose is perfect! Super CAS card! Your beautiful visitor in the grassland is stunning! I would just sit and watch him! Stay warm, My Friend! It is chilly and rainy in ATL. XX

So clean and adorable, Jaydee! What a perfect way to illustrate the magic of Christmas! I LOVE the Poppy Parade nose!!!

Elizabeth Stewart

Jaydee...love the nose! And adding the saffron stars was perfect! So CAS.

Joanne James

Love your cute reindeer with the subtle but important role that Poppy Parade plays on your card. And no, definitely not farting stars but you are keeping me cheery with such thoughts these days!!
