Mountain Holiday for Paper Players #422

HI Everyone.

Happy Sunday.  It's the fabulous Joanne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge:

I immediately thought of Christmas florals, but decided against it.  I know!  Me deciding not to do florals! :-)
Instead, I needed a card for a special couple who love winter sports.  I'd purchased the Ellen Hutson Essentials - Mountain Holiday specifically to make a card for them.  I wanted to keep it CAS but added texture with background paper and some embossing on the focal panel.

I used a die from the Stitching Lines dies to create a little texture underneath the skis.  I also added a little glimmer from my gel pen.  Here's a closeup:

I colored the images with the colors from the challenge and popped the focal layer onto fun foam.  I found some fabulous corrugated card stock in my stash.  I have no idea where it came from!!!  I glued that to my card base and then adhered the front panel.

Here's my card:

I decorated the envelope, too.  Here's the back of the envelope:

Then I added a little interest to the front of the envelope:

Don't you love the play on words?  :-)

I hope you will join us and play along this week.  As always, if you are looking for some inspiration, you can check out the fabulous creations from our very talented design team:

On a personal note:

I thought I would share a few photos from the recent snow storm.  It wasn't a lot of snow, but it sure looked pretty!

I managed to get out and take a couple of photos.  I love the red lanterns covered in snow, especially with the little trees behind:

The summer grasses also look great in the snow.  They provide shelter - and food - for the brids and little critters that visit our garden.

The wetland looked fabulous, too.

One of my favorite new decorations this year, is this fabulous wreath.  It hangs on the large mirror in our dining room.  It's a 24" wreath and I love the colors and pinecones with the red ornaments.

And here's a photo of the cushions that started this entire red theme - remember..... I am NOT A GOLD girl and I'm not that into sequins, either.   Wouldn't believe it after looking at the cushions, would you :-)

I love the plaid blanket/throw, too.  So do the cats.  They love padding on it - hence all the loose threads!

I'll be back tomorrow with another card - and a little blog fun.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee
