Hi Everyone.
Happy Sunday. Today was glorious. Absolutely glorious. After the -57 temps from earlier in the week, it reach 37 degrees. When we awoke this morning it was 14 degrees above zero and felt like summer. Really... .it was amazingly warm considering where we had been mid-week. It was also beautifully sunny. What a gorgeous day!
Anyway, it' is the very talented Joanne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week - and it's a theme challenge:
I needed a Happy Anniversary card for my besties who celebrated their 37th anniversary this year. I decided that the Penny Black Perfect Pear stamp set would be, well... perfect :-)
I colored up the stamp with my Zig Real Brush Markers, spritzed the stamp and then stamped it onto watercolor paper. I then took my paintbrushes and played around with the ink. For some reason, I seem incapable of just leaving water and ink to do "its thing"!
Then, I had to finish it with a few splatters. Here's a closeup:
I cut the main panel down and then mounted it onto some Altenew Woodgrain cardstock with fun foam. Here's my full card:
I hope you will join us and play along with Joanne's challenge this week. If you are looking for some inspiration, you have to look no further than the fabulous creations from our design team:
I am hoping to get into my craft room tomorrow to play. If I do, I will be back later in the week to share some cards with you. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Thanks, Anne Marie. Luckily not -57 .... but it did get back down to -40! I have had ENOUGH of this cold! :-)

Thanks, Claire. Pity the warmer weather didn't last more than a couple of days... it's been freezing again! Well, technically - well below freezing :-)

Thanks, Wanda. I really do want to do a different take on the LOVE word and there's something about a pear and the punny sentiment of "pair" that appealed to me!

Thanks, LeAnne. I STILL over-work my watercolors, I wish I could just let "it be"... but I just can't seem to be able to get that airy feel that watercolor deserves! I need lots more practice

I’m so happy that the weather has warmed up some for you, Jaydee! Hopefully you won’t have to experience any more of that -57 degree nonsense this year. Brr! Your card is gorgeous! I just love how you spritzed the colored stamp with water to create such a lovely effect. I’m sure your friends will love this card.

Jaydee, this is just lovely! I love the way you colored the stamp and then spritzed it with water! The effect is so beautiful and I know your friends will cherish this work of art! Glad it is a little warmer in MN! Have a great weekend, My Friend! XX

Your water coloring is fabulous and this pear makes such a fun focal point for an anniversary card! Love it!

Really pretty, Jaydee! I love that you created a non-Valentine style card! The watercolor look you achieved is amazing, I need to get some lessons from you, I can't seem to achieve this look at all!

Thanks, Kris! yes. PB does have some beautiful stamps and every time I do a cleanup in my craft room, the ones I have always manage to stay and not get recycled. They are just timeless. I wish I could just let the water do "its thing"! I am always compelled to work it and work it and work it... I just have to let go :-)

Thank you, Ann. I still find watercoloring difficult. I know it takes practice and patience... something I don't have in abundance :-)

Thanks, Joanne! I love the woodgrain paper, it adds so much texture to projects and I thought it was perfect with the pear.

Thanks, Laurie. So glad you were a little warmer, too. The 1/2 frozen rain didn't help much this morning! I am so ready for spring!

Jaydee, that is awesome. Penny Black has such great stamps. I love to watercolor too. I feel that I don't have to be perfect because we let the water do it's thing. Have a great week in MN. Iowa is warmer this week then last week.
