Coloring Whale for Paper Players #433
17 March 2019
Hi Everyone.
Happy Sunday. It's my turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and I have a clean and simple challenge for you. However, as I am not at home and didn't have connection to the internet, my wonderful PP team mate, Ann was kind enough to step in and set up the challenge for me this week. Thank you, Ann :-)
Here's the challenge for this week.
For this challenge I decided to do a truly one layer card. I wanted to make a card for Lou and do something different. He was off on a very long - almost 47 hour trip, and I decided to give him something to keep him occupied for a tiny little part of that trip.
I recently purchased the jigsaw puzzle die from Impression Obsession and it was the perfect thing to create that "something different" for Lou.
I began by stamping the sea image twice onto my card and then stamped the multi-step whale. I used my makeup brushes to color the sea and the sky. Leaving a little halo around the sentiment. I then ran the card through my Big Shot with the Impressions Obsession die and, voila!, a jigsaw puzzle.
Here's a closeup:
I was so lucky that the eye of the whale just missed being cut with the die :-)
Lou had tremendous fun putting the puzzle together and apparently it caught the attention of a couple of the flight attendants, who kept coming back to see if he and completed it - and then see the finished product. Apparently they were pretty impressed that his wife could create jigsaw puzzles :-)
Once Lou arrived at his destination, he made a beeline for a store and bought a pair of scissors and some sticky tape so that he could adhere the whole thing back together and keep it that way. He did tell me that he'd like all his cards done this way in the future :-)
Here's the full card - the white around the card is actually the back of another card as I needed something to help the one-layer (truly) jigsaw puzzle stand up.
I hope you will play along with us this week. We'd love to see what you create with this challenge. As always, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you. Also, a huge shout-out to my PP design team members who do not really like clean and simple... honestly, they did a wonderful job and rocked a challenge that was out of their comfort zone.
I'll be back towards the end of a week with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
