Fresh Freesia Birthday for Paper Players #435 and FMS

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous Laurie's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week - and it's Tic Tac Toe week!

I decided to go diagonally = die-cut, embossing and floral.

I needed a sketch and decided to make a second card with the great Freshly Made Sketches sketch this week.  I hope they will forgive me that I put the side panel on the left so that it fit with my die-cut floral :-)

Before I share tonight's card with you, I'd like to point out that the world is about to turn on its axis!!  :-). Why?  Well, two reasons.

  1. This is the second card in a row that I have NOT used a white base.  Shock.  Horror :-)
  2. This card uses my two least favorite colors - purple and pink :-)

OK!  Now, that we have that out of the way, let's look at the card.

I began with an Elegant Eggplant base and added a piece of watercolor/gold designer paper that was a very good match colorwise.

I stamped the Fresh Freesia onto a piece of white card stock and embossed it with gold embossing powder and heat set it.  I went looking for some freesia photos and noticed that some of the bright pink freesia have yellow/green centers, so I went with that as the inspiration for my colors.

When I die-cut the freesia, I really didn't like the white border, so I had to spend time fussy cutting out the white border, which was fine, until I got to the flowers!  The flower was too thin to mount on foam, so I adhered it directly to the card.  I heat embossed a sentiment from the same set.  Here's a closeup of the flowers:

Here's my full card:

I decorated the inside and added a sentiment:

I hope you will join us and play along this week.  the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:

On a personal note:

Well, it might officially be Spring, but Winter is holding on and note quite giving up.  We have a high of 30 degrees today and there is a possibility of snow on Thursday!  Talking about snow - it hasn't all quite melted on our lawn yet, either.  This honestly has felt like a VERY long winter and I am so looking forward to the first green shoots..but we are a few weeks away from that still!

We know that Spring hasn't quite arrived yet as our Junco's are still hanging around.  They are the first to let us know when winter is on its way in - and the first to let us know when winter is on its way out.  They don't go back north until they are sure it's the right time.  When they are sure, one minute they are here - and poof - the next minute they are gone and we don't see them again until winter.

I'll be back with another card tomorrow.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

I love the pink and purple! So pretty for the freesia...and the matching envelope looks so elegant too. Hold on..spring is coming...I say that as it's lightly snowing out as I write this...lol!But at least I see some grass in places, that's a good sign.

Jaydee, I laughed so hard at your post about the white base. You never would have guessed that purple and pink aren’t your favorites with this beautiful card. So pretty!
