Gerda Steiner Happy Snowman for Freshly Made Sketches #386

Hi Everyone.

Greetings from a warm and sunny (FINALLY) Minnesota.  The temperature today is an outstanding 71 degrees and the sun is shining brightly.  I know it won't stay that way for longer than today - but I intend to enjoy it for all that it is worth :-)

I did get to spend a little time in my craft room today.  I needed to make a card for the Paper Players challenge tonight and I went looking for a sketch.  I found this great sketch across at .

I love this sketch, but I couldn't get it to work with my card for the Paper Players tonight... I had this image in my head of what that "any shape" element should be and I couldn't shake it off :-)

I stamped the snowman onto X-press it card stock as I had intended to color him with my Copics.  However, and this is when Lou called me something that sounded like crazy witch... :-)...... I decided to color him with my Prismacolor pencils instead!  I've been taking a Pencil coloring class and I don't seem to be able to stop.  However, I have no idea why I decided that I needed to see how many layers of color I could get onto the smoothest card stock on earth!  I mean.... for layers and depth of color you need tooth in the paper and, X-press it has NO tooth.  But that didn't stop me getting about 6 layers of color - sometimes more in certain areas and I love the way he came out in the end.

Here's a closeup of the snowman:

He really is the cutest snowman!

I mounted him onto a piece of patterned paper that came with a Christmas set from last year.  The colors echoed his scarf really well.   I stamped the sentiment and stuck him directly onto the card base.

Here's my Prismacolor on X-press it snowman :-)

I really was pleased how he turned out.  However, I realized when I was typing this... I should have added a little shadow underneath him!  I might have to go back and fix that :-)

Our summer birds are slowly starting to return.  We have jelly out for the orioles, but they haven't reached our backyard yet.

This little guy and several of his friends have been hanging around under the feeder outside my office though.  He's a little song sparrow:

I'll be back tomorrow with my Paper Players card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee
