An Open Heart and Very Versailles for Paper Players #458

Hi Everyone.

Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous Ann's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week - and it's color week:

I love the rich, regal color combo that Ann created.  However, I wasn't quite sure how to use it!  I had in mind to color the little bird from an An Open Heart.  A really old SU stamp set.  It really is one of those sets that will always be in my stash.  However, the colors were a problem as I only own Cajun Craze :-)  So, I had to try to match the Peacock and Merlot as closely as I could.

I felt that the central images needed a little grounding, so mixed the images with a very new set - Very Versailles.  I used the text stamp from that stamp set as the base of my images.  I stamped this onto a Neenah Solar White 80# piece of card stock and then die-cut that layer with my stitched rectangles.

I stamped the bird image onto another piece of 80# and colored it with pencils.  I fussy cut it and then mounted it over the text from the Very Versailles set.  All that was left was to add the sentiment and mount the panel onto a Cajun Craze card base.

I added a little more color to the berries on the image with my pencils.  Here's a closeup.  You can just see the background text and the detail on the berries:

I hope you will join us and play along with our challenge this week.  As usual, the design team have some fabulous cards as inspiration for you:

On a personal note:

I haven't had the chance to get into my craft room this week, however, I am hoping that I will be able to spend a little time in there tomorrow!  If I do, then I will have a card or two to share with you during the week.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

Jaydee, I love everything about this! That little bird is adorable and definitely a set to hold on to. You also just convinced me that I need to buy Very Versailles soon. I love how you layered the images! I hope you have a wonderful Sunday and can sneak in some crafting time. Big hugs!

Wanda Cullen

This is such a lovely design and I'm loving the detail of the subtle script in the background!

Su Mohr

I love your card, Jaydee! The branch over the script is so pretty! And, you did a perfect job of matching the colors!

LeAnne

You did a fabulous job with those colors, especially for not having a couple of them in your stash! (I could help you with that, ya know!) I know we share a love of birds, so this made me happy, especially with that gorgeous background stamping!

Joanne James

This is one of those cards that is so different to something I'd make and I think that's why I love it so Jaydee - the subtle layering a gorgeous colouring make this card perfect for someone with an interest in wildlife. And all with only one of the challenge colours too - go you!

laurie

Oh, Jaydee! I LOVE this bird. You have colored him so perfectly. You did a fabulous job replicating the challenge colors I selected!!! The Very Versailles script looks beautiful behind the foliage. A gorgeous card, my friend!

Windy Ellard

Love the background you made for this sweet colorful bird! I love the vintage feel of the card!

Jaydee, this is so beautiful! I love everything about this card! You certainly wouldn't know the color combo was hard to use. I love the script and the foliage. Your little bird is gorgeous and looks like a visitor in your beautiful yard. I know how much you adore birds, so this is perfect! I hope you are having a great week! XXX
