Honey Bee for Freshly Made Sketches #416

Hi Everyone.  Happy Tuesday.

I was lucky enough to get into my craft room yesterday.  Of course, I went to some challenge sites looking for inspiration.  Luckily, FreshlyMade  has a sketch that is running over the holiday period.

I decided the sketch was a great excuse to pull out some of the new SU paper that is coming up in the Sale A Bration catalog.  I absolutely LOVE this paper.  In fact, I love it so much, that I used it to make 3 different cards yesterday!  If you haven't seen it, check out "Golden Honey Speciality" paper on google - or chat with your demo.  It really is fabulous!

I paired it with a set called Honey Bee.  I bought the matching dies and was amazed to find that the little bee die fits perfectly with the little bees in the Golden Honey Speciality paper.  You can see in the closeup below how well it cuts out from left over pieces of the DSP.  I love the gold foil touches on this paper, too.

Here's my card:

Sweet Friend (1 of 1)-3

I love the crisp black and white and touches of gold.  I played around with a white background, but decided on the black base instead.  However, I did go back and make a card using other papers from the set on a white base :-)

On a personal note:

I'm looking out of the window and the world is a winter wonderland.  We had snow, rain, sleet and blowing winds over the last 36 hours.  It's a complete and utter mess on the roads when that happens, but it means that the blowing, wet, snow catches on the branches and trees and looks like a Hallmark movie set.  Today the sun is finally shining and the snow covered trees and ground are glistening.  It really is so pretty.

Lou and I have just returned from warmer climes.  We got back over the weekend.  We celebrated Christmas with 3000 other people on a cruise ship.  The ship did an amazing job of decorating and Santa arrived on a sleigh on Christmas morning and gave out gifts to the kids on board.  It really was wonderful to get away and spend some time together. Luckily, there were enough places where we could go to find a quiet place to read, play games and just relax.  Neither of us go back to work until next Monday, so we have a few days to rest at home before the new year begins.

I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas, Hannukah or Kwanzaa spent with family, friends and loved-ones and that Santa brought you all the goodies that were on your list!  As I have been able to get into my craft room and play, I will have some other cards to share with you this week.  I'll be back tomorrow with another card for you.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight and I hope you all have a fabulous New Year's Eve.

Hugs

Jaydee

This is fabulous! I agree with you that the black/white with a pop of a gold is great look. I love that you added the striped paper - it's a fun accent. Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.
