Frosty for Addicted to CAS #176
18 January 2020
Hi everyone. Happy Saturday.
It's our first AddictedtoCAS challenge for 2020 and working with this code word was such a pleasure!
I pulled out one of my old stamp sets from Penny Black called "Bundled Up". Generally, I work with this set in Copics. However, for the last several months I have worked entirely in pencil and I am SO glad that I used this medium for this card.
I stamped the impage with Stazon London Fog. It was the perfect grey to lay down just the right amount of detail, but still allow me to work with my Luminance pencils to add the detail. I cannot tell you how therapeutic it was to spend time layering color and detail on this adorable image. The only thing that I added, that was not part of the original stamped image, was the smile on the snowman. I just thought... it needed a smile:-)
Here's my take on the code word:
Not only was the image "frosty", but I also tried to keep the colors cool. Honestly, this is one of my favorite Penny Black images! This is also one of the very few cards I have made for the last few years that didn't have a stitched border :-) I just didn't want to distract from this fabulous snowman!
I hope you will join our AddictedtoCAS challenge and play along. As usual, our design team have some amazing inspiration for you, including our host this week, Stephanie!
On a personal note:
Oh... the world looks beautiful! We are expecting about 10 inches of snow overnight and it is absolutely utterly pristine out there. I'll share some photos with you tomorrow night. We are just hoping that the prediction of 30-50 mph winds does not come to fruition! Of course, our bird feeders and bird baths are full to help our feathered friends weather the storm!
I'll be back tomorrow with my Paper Players card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Oh Jaydee, this is absolutely beautiful. The stamp you chose was perfect for your expert coloring. It was colored to perfection. The colors you used were outstanding. Thanks for this on a Sunday morning where you are expected to get more snow and I am wishing for just a little here in VA but is not going to happen!

This is so gorgeous, Jaydee. I love the image, I love your grogeous pencil coloring, and I love that you gave him a smile. I am so glad you enjoyed creating your frosty card. I am hoping to see some snow here in the northeastern part of the US. I love the peacefullness and beauty of a lovely snow.

Thanks, Barb. I really did enjoy coloring him with pencils. I think I'm likely to do that more in the future instead of my Copics.

Hi Hilda, so glad you liked it! The wind did come! However, it was followed a couple of days later by brilliant sunshine and slightly warmer temps, which made up for the wind :-)

Thank you :-) I really enjoy coloring with pencils and find the more I do it the better I get - and the more relaxing I find it. This image was just perfect to practice on and the cooler colors are more forgiving :-)
