Honey Bee for Inspire Create Challenge #59
02 January 2020
Hi Everyone.
Happy Thursday. I promise you I will stop using this stamp set.... sometime :-) Honestly, it's one of my favorites from SU in a very long time. It just makes me smile using it.
I saw this great sketch across at Inspire Create
I used both the stamps and matching dies to create my card. I started with the honeycomb to add texture to the background. I left most of the combs empty, but did add back the pieces to some of them. I also inked up the hive with quite vigorous strokes as I wanted to add texture instead of having it smooth. Here's a closeup:
I used my watercolor markers for the flowers and inked the stamps up directly. I used the matching dies to cut them out.
Here's my full card:
I wanted to add a little difference between the base of the card and the focal layer, so I used a different white card stock for that. Generally I don't do that, but I decided I needed to get out of my habits and do something different! I actually like the slight contrast and the warmer white works well with the flowers and the hive.
On a personal note:
Today was a dull, grey day. But it was a great day for spending in my craft room. I worked on my upcoming design team cards and have got most of them complete and ready thru the end of February! That means I can spend my craft time working on cards to send out to friends and family - and blog readers :-) It also gives me more time to make cards for SendASmile4Kids and Card Care Connection.
Thank you to those of you who took the time to comment, or send me an email, after yesterday's post. You guys really are the reason I continue to post. :-)
We have had a regular visitor the last couple of months and found that we actually have two of them visiting. This particular photo was taken on a bitterly cold, windy, day and I have no idea how his/her little feet and tail don't freeze! Luckily, they can usually find something to munch on under the bird feeders and they are always welcome visitors.
Seriously! Isn't that the cutest little face and look at those pink paws and nose. They must be freezing! What I had never noticed is that they have little bare pink patches on the top of their ears!
I'll be back tomorrow with another post. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
