#Instafamous Super Hero for Festive Friday
17 April 2020
Hi Everyone
I don't believe I have ever made a card on a Friday afternoon, but after this week I desperately needed to escape to my craft room and do something to help calm me down!
I went looking for some inspiration across at Festive Friday and they have a fabulous inspo list this week and, coincidentally, one that fit into one of my favorite all-time stories about what a difference a single person can make. So, although I made the card for the Festive Friday challenge - I dedicate this card to Captain Tom Moore. If you have missed reading about Captain Tom - it's a story of resilience, fortitude and a wish to give back to the nurses and doctors that helped him recover from cancer and a hip replacement. I felt especially drawn to his story, even more so because he was in the same regiment as my father in Burma and is a Yorkshireman - just like my Dad. Who knows, they may have even met! Anyway you can read about his story here or just search google!
Here's the challenge from Festive Friday
For my card I went with red, blue and superheroes. Of course, I had to bring out my Paper Rose superheroes and added them to a new die that I got from my favorite things - one part of the sentiment also comes from that set. You'll be seeing more of this frame in the future :-) I used my Tim Holtz sunray stencil to create a few rays behind my super hero. I die-cut three of the photo frames and glued them together and then added my little superhero to the card base with foam tape.
To all the doctors, nurses, porters, cleaners - all the hospital staff either front line or behind the scenes...... thank you - you are all super heroes! And thanks to Captain Tom - a 99 year old war veteran who wanted to raise 1000 pounds for the National Health Service in England - and became a super hero thanks to social media and his own dogged determination.
I will be back tomorrow with another card that I made this afternoon. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
HugsM
