Happy Sunday.
It's the fabulous LeAnne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's sketch week and I decided to pull out one of the 2020 Sale-a-Bration sets called "Happy Birthday to You". Here's LeAnne's sketch:
On a personal note:
It looks as though we might hit the high 70s today! We haven't seen those temps since last year so we are looking forward to some nice warm weather - once the rain has passed that is. Lou is in the process of repainting! A couple of weeks ago he painted the main floor powder room and the mud room a nice light grey/blue/green color (Benjamin Moore Grey Owl). It's made such a difference to the mud room as there is little natural light in there. It has really opened up and brightened the space. Next room is my craft room. Lou has moved all my craft room furniture into the middle of the room (not quite sure how I am going to craft for the rest of the weekend!) I've chosen a slightly darker and more blue version of Grey Owl with a paint from Sherwin Williams called Tinsmith. My craft room is in the basement and faces north - so not a lot of natural light there either. Lou is painting one wall for me today to make sure that I like the color. Considering we currently have 18 different patches of color on the dining room and office walls, it's not a bad idea to try one wall first! We've been trying to pick a color to replace the one in the dining room and office since last June! The patches have become a fixture and will become permanent if we don't choose a color soon!
The Rosebreasted Grosbeak's are back. They arrive at the same time as the Orioles and they are very welcome visitors. I love watching the males in flight as their white wing patterns are gorgeous in flight. Mind you, he's a handsome chappie even when he's just sitting there looking handsome!
I've been trying to get a decent shot of the tree sparrows nesting in a box at the back of our woodland, but haven't managed to get a decent shot yet. I know this photo isn't in focus, but I love the sheen on their feathers. It's a pity that more people don't try to help them by putting up nesting boxes. Tree Swallows are supposed to eat their body weight in mosquitoes and other insects every day. That's a lot of mosquitoes!
Aren't they amazing? I just love watching them flying over the wetland.
I haven't managed to get any decent photos over the last couple of days because of the rain, however, I will try and get some shots if the rain lets up and the sun comes out later. I'll also be back later with some more cards using products from the new 2020/2021 SU catalog. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift today.
Hugs
Jaydee

Hi Jaydee! I love your beautiful cake! Your coloring is so amazing! I need lessons! Love the pencil shading. I need to try that. Such a perfect card for this sketch! How exciting to be painting you rooms new colors. It is very difficult to find the right shade. GOOD LUCK! Hope to see pictures of the finished projects!

Stef, I haven't see the yellow breasted. I need to go look those up. I haven't checked the grosbeak migration pattern closely - I need to go check that, too!
have a great week

Such a pretty cake, Jaydee, those roses are gorgeous! Love seeing the Grosbeak and Swallows, they are beautiful and a couple of my favorite seasonal birds when I lived in Oregon (although the Grosbeak were yellow rather than rose-breasted). Here in Idaho I haven't seen them yet, we'll have to see if this is in their migration pattern...have a great week!
