Stitched so Sweetly Cherry Blossoms for Atlantic Hearts Sketches #370
26 May 2020
Happy Tuesday! I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.
I saw this great sketch across at AtlanticHearts and I had to think about it for a while. I love the fact that the AH sketches really do challenge me - and that's one of the reasons I like playing along. I finally decided to pull out some dies that I haven't used before - the flowers and stem from the Stampin' Up! Cherry Blossoms dies. I've used the one that matches the Forever Blossoms stamp set, but have never used the Cherry Blossom dies.
I began by placing a stencil over the left bottom corner and inking up my brick stencil with Gray Granite ink. To define the area even more, I added a stitche die from Ellen Hutson Essentials and then I placed the Cherry Blossom stem and the die-cut flowers on top. I popped the larger flowers with foam tape and added some glimmer and shine along the debossed areas of the flowers and leaves. The sentiment is from an old Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin kit and I added that to a die-cut from the Stitched So Sweetly dies.
Here's a closeup of the flowers - you can see I added a little more shimmer and shine to the smaller flowers:
I love the little bits of shimmer and shine and think that these dies will be getting more love in the future! Here's my full card:
I was really pleased with the way it turned out and am so glad that the team across at AHS really forced me to step outside of my comfort zone and work on this sketch. I hope you will pop along and check out the fabulous design team and submission inspiration cards.
I'll be back with another card tomorrow - and a sneak peek look at the new paint color in my craft room! Yes, Lou has been busy and I am absolutely IN LOVE with the new color!
In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
