Peony Garden Detailed Bands for As you See It #228

Happy Monday!  I hope you all had a great weekend.

I have a card for you today showcasing the gorgeous DSP in the Stampin' Up! Peony Garden designer series paper.  I paired it with a fancy die from the Detailed Bands die collection and.... it even has a ribbon and bow!  I created the card using the Potpourri of goodies called out in the new challenge across at As You See It

My DSP was a piece I had left over - so that covered the scraps.  The one word sentiment is hello.  The color I used is Petal Pink - although to me it feels more pale peach than pink!  The repeat stamped pattern is the dots from the Forever Fern set.  I stamped it 3 times around where the bow is.

The scrap of paper I had left over is really feminine, so I decided a fancy sentiment was needed.  Well, technically I kept the sentiment clean and simple, but put it into a fancy Detailed Band.  I added a bow from the ribbon that comes with the Peony Garden Suite.  Here's my card:

Detailed Bands Peony (1 of 1)

Petal Pink is really such a feminine color and really does work well with Smoky Slate and white.  This was such a fun challenge as it forced me to do things I don't do often!

Marina - you asked about the sponging on the background on this card.  I used my cheap cosmetic blending brushes over the top of the embossing folder.  You coud probably do it with a brayer, but I prefer to use the blending brushes.  I bought mine on amazon at this link.  although mine don't have the brush handles that they are showcasing on their new line.  I like that they come in multiple sizes and the fact that I have more control over the amount of ink - either light, or heavy.    I know there are many out on the market for considerably more money, but these ones worked well for me at a fraction of the price.

On a personal note:

Today I decided to work outside in the screened-in porch.  It was so cold that I had a warm blanket over my shoulders - but it's so wonderful being out here watching and listening to the birds and wildlife go about their day, that I didn't want to go back inside.  Charlie sat with me and was on "squirrel patrol".  Everytime I squirrel came close to the screen, he would crouch down and see it off.  Poor thing got exhausted and slept the rest of the day!  I'll be back tomorrow with another card.  Before I go - here's what's visiting the feeder.... a beautiful Oriole.

Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Very pretty, Jaydee! My Peony suite has yet to arrive so I'm really looking forward to playing when it gets here. I like the way you've cleverly included all the elements. Thank for playing along with us at As You See It Challenge.

These papers are beautiful and you've created a beautiful card as well. I agree...Petal Pink is too peachy to be called pink, in my book! Nonetheless, it's still beautiful! I just love those little speckles....I use them all the time! Thanks for playing with AYSI this week, too!

I like the way you used the elements of the challenge in unconventional ways, Jaydee! The card looks beautiful with that paper! Thanks for cooking up our recipe at As You See It Challenges.

Thanks so much Jaydee; I thought I inked the already embossed image, but it seems it is the embossing folder i have to ink. Thanks again!!

What a gorgeous fancy frame Jaydee and it compliments that pretty paper perfectly- your card has a lovely romantic feel with the addition of the satin bow too. Thanks for playing along at As You See It this week!
