Stampin! with Jaydee

Happy Monday!

I needed a sympathy card for a friend.  His wife died suddenly last Friday.  I always find sympathy cards tough, but I saw this inspiration across at Just Us Girls and I was inspired to create a sympathy card.  The two of them live(d) in Sedona and, although the photo has tropical elements, I thought of the sunsets down in Arizona.  The Stampin' Up! set - Timeless Tropical was perfect for this challenge.

I started my card by using multiple inks blended to create the sunset background.  I normally blend like crazy, but noticed that the photo isn't perfectly colored - cos nature does her own thing!  So, I decided to go with the flow and not blend perfectly.  I stamped the palm image from the Timeless Tropical set onto the blended background and added a sympathy sentiment from an old My Paper Pumpkin kit.

On a personal note:

Last night we had the mother of all storms.  The lightening went on for hours and hours.  The rain came down in buckets and the thunder rolled across the sky for what seemed like forever.  By this morning we had somewhere between 3-6" inches of rain and were under flood warnings.  Luckily we didn't have heavy wind gusts, so the damage was limited.  It was amazing watching the lightening go on for almost 3 hours though!  All that rain  - and temps in the 90s - means one thing..... high humidity today and a heat warning as the temps will feel more like 100 degrees. 

I will be back tomorrow with another card.  In the meantime, I thought you might like another photo of the Pileated having a drink!
