Toile Christmas Forever Greenery Tasteful Textile for Just Add Ink #507

Hi Everyone.

I have a card to share with you today that I made using the sketch across at Just Add Ink.  I paired my favorite Stampin' Up! set - Christmas Toile with some fussy cut leaves from the Forever Greenery DSP and the Tasteful Textile embossing folder.  Here's the sketch:

I stamped the cardinal from Christmas Toile and then colored it very lightly with watercolor markers.  Generally I spend ages coloring this with either pencils or Copics - but the watercolor marker technique took no longer than 60 seconds and I actually like the way it turned out.  Once the watercolor was dry, I fussy cut the bird.  I didn't use watercolor paper, just normal Neenah 110#.  So, you know that I used very little water for the coloring!

I took a piece of the Forever Greenery DSP and fussy cut some leaves.  I also ran a piece of Neenah through my Big Shot with the Tasteful Textile embossing folder.  I really do love the subtle texture you get from it.  Once I had assembled the base of the card, I popped the cardinal up on foam and arranged the leaves around him.  I know that we tend to use cardinals at Christmas, but our cardinals are so much brighter in summer and I love to see them resting in the trees, amongst the leaves.  Just like this one does :-)

Hopefully, I have shown you yet another use of the Forever Greenery - actually, I have a couple more to show you tomorrow before the new catalog goes live in Wednesday.

I'll be back tomorrow with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift today.

Hugs

Jaydee

Such a stunning card Jaydee! Your watercoloured cardinal looks every bit like it took a lot longer to do and I love how you’ve paired him with the lovely leaves and soft textural embossing. Thanks for sharing with us at Just Add Ink this week.

Such a gorgeous card Jaydee! The red and the green colours just pop against the white. I love the little bit of added texture in the corner with the embossed panel. Beautiful! Thanks for playing along this week at Just Add Ink. Rochelle xo

LeAnne, you are too kind, thank you! I was actually really pleased with how the cardinal turned out. I need to use my markers and water more often! I am enjoying find different ways to use the very busy DSP!
