Le Cafe Prized Peony for Freshly Made and Festive Friday

Happy Saturday!

Where has this week gone?  I had a couple of cards to share this week, but the time completely got away with me.  However, I did spend some quality time in my craft cave today and am feeling rested and relaxed and somewhat recovered from what has been a very long week.

I made this card for one of my besties.  She is so excited as Starbucks has finally opened in her home town and they can now go back to Saturday morning coffee breaks!

I used the sketch across at Freshly Made and items from the inspiration list at Festive Friday.

I used circles, brown and a sweet sentiment

I began by using the negative space from a die-cut circle and used my blending brushes to add color.  That helped to ground my elements.  I then stamped the coffee pot and croissant with my Copics and fussy cut them.  I stamped the woodgrain stamp from the new Whiskey Business to also help ground the elements.  It's subtle but I promise it is there!  I then ran a piece of card stock thru my Big Shot with the Subtle 3D embossing folder and added that to the base.   I added a sentiment from Prized Peony and finished it off with a couple of gems.

Here's my card:

I really love the texture from the Subtle 3D embossing folder.  Because I couldn't see the embossing... it really was subtle, I used my blending brushes and some Smoky Slate ink to add a little color.  It's enough to show the embossing, but not enough to detract from the image.

Here's a closeup of the images:

On a personal note:

We are under a heat advisory for tonight.  In the hundreds and the humidity has been dreadful today.  So escaping to my craft cave really was the right thing to do today!

The summer flowers are starting to bloom and I managed to capture a shot of the yellow swallowtail on the bergamot.  The bees and the butterflies absolutely love it.  Unlike the very lucky Marina, we don't get a lot of butterflies (primarily because of the over use of pesticides!), so we really appreciate them when we do get them.  Our garden is chemical free and we use only organic fertilizers, so the butterflies, bees and insects have a safe smorgasbord both at the front and back of the house.

I also captured a shot of the rebellied woodpecker gathering food for the babies at the suet feeder.

I'll be back tomorrow with my anything-but-clean-and-simple Paper Players card :-)  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs
