Parisian Beauty for As You See It Challenge #229

Happy Monday.

I have a card for you today featuring one of my favorite Stampin' Up! sets - Parisian Beauty.  I made this card for the challenge across at As You See It.  You can see the theme below.

I have no idea why... but I have been craving a trip to Paris.  Actually, I've been craving a trip to so many places - and the card coming up for JAI - is another one of those places - but that's for tomorrow!  One of the things that has always drawn Lou and I together is the love of traveling and experiencing new things.  Because of COVID-19, we have had multiple trips postponed or cancelled this year.  One of the places we were talking about going back to was Paris.  So, when I saw the challenge across at As You See It, I was drawn to create a card celebrating Paris - but was also influenced by the color of the ASYI badge - pink!  Those of you who have visited my blog before will know that pink "isn't my thing" - but there is something about Petal Pink that I love.  I think it's the peachy pink that I react to.

For my card I kept it almost entirely in Petal Pink.  I mixed it with black and a dark grey.  This card is for a friend of ours who has been in lockdown for almost 4 months and loves to travel almost as much as we do.  She's a really feminine, very Parisian sort of lady... always beautifully groomed and I thought she would appreciate this card - and its sentiment.

Parisian Beauty Forever Blossoms (1 of 1)

I added a little gold bling with some left over leaves from an old Paper Pumpkin set.  I think I might be a pink convert after all :-)

Before I go, I have a photo to share with you of one of our favorite summer visitors.  These guys make me so happy, I can't tell you.  We are so blessed that they summer with us and bring up their babies.  The neigbor across the road keeps asking us if we have seen them?  Seen them, we have at least 4 pairs nesting in our backyard.  Why?  we think it is because we provide food, water and safe places for them to nest.  We have spent the last 8 years trying to create a backyard that is bird and insect friendly and seeing these guys all day makes it so worth while.

Male Oriole (1 of 1)-2

Isn't he just the most beautiful thing?  They also have the most amazing calls.  You can hear their calls here

I'll be back tomorrow with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight and stay safe!

Hugs

Jaydee

Jaydee (and Lou): You will have to wait for that trip but besides, I think we were so lucky to visit Paris last october for the "Grand Prix" . . . because Paris will not be the same for a long, long time. My husband is craving for visiting very good friends in the United States . . . we will have to wait!!! Thanks for the "site" on "All about birds" . . . I understand your tender love for those beautiful orioles.

This is a perfect take on our inspiration....even if it is only in our minds that we travel abroad, LOL! But I agree, looking at those gorgeous orioles is worth staying home for! Thanks for playing with our challenge this week!

Perfect, Jaydee! I love the composition with the layered elements surrounding the Eiffel Tower still leaving that delicious white space. Like you, we have had trips to wonderful places cancelled too but were lucky enough to visit Paris last September... which seems a lifetime ago now. Thank you so much for joining us at As You See It this week.

Yes Jaydee I think we are all craving a get-away right now! I was supposed to be leaving for the USA on Saturday for 3 weeks but sadly no more. It's so lovely to travel if only in our minds though and your card is a wonderful reminder of Paris - one of my favourite places to visit! I have never been there with Jason oddly, yet have visited many, many times in my student days. I was lucky enough to have a friend living there so spent lots of time indulging in art and the lesser well-known haunts. Happy memories! Anyway I digress - I love your CAS take on this wonderful city with the clever layering and touches of gold and I think the pink suits you! Thanks for sharing over at As You See It this week!

I think Paris is everyone's dream vacation, especially in the spring. I love the composition of your card and the way you've incorporated the great background papers! Thanks for sharing your vacation dreams with us at As You See It Challenges.
