Beauty Within Very Versailles for CaseThisSketch
29 August 2020
Happy Saturday!
I have another card made using the Beauty Within set from Altenew. My last cards made with this set all featured the coloring stencils. This time, I went old-school and colored the flower with Copic markers. I was inspired by the sketch across at casethissketch this week.
I stamped and colored the flower and leaf. I fussy cut them because I didn't want white edges from the die-cuts. That's because I colored behind the focal elements and the white border really would have popped too much. I added the script stamp from the Very Versailles set on top of the blended area. I used one of my Stampin' Up! Detail Bands Dies for the label and added some extra "dots" using the small stamp from Whale Done.
Here's a closeup:
I wanted the label die to pop a little bit more from the background, so you can see I distressed the edges with my blending brush and some Sahara Sand ink. Here's the full card:
I stamped the flower onto a red envelop for a little peak of what is inside!
I really do love this set, but am sure this is an Anemone and the leaves bother me because they don't seem right. Also, the flower is beautifully drawn, but the leaves feel more like line drawings. I know... it's just me. The little irks don't stop me from loving this set though! The script from Very Versailles is so versatile and I think works well to ground the flower and label. Pool Party really is my favorite background blending color these days!
On a personal note:
I have no idea where the week went. Actually, I have no idea where the whole year has gone! We still had snow on the ground when we hunkered down and we are going to be having snow again soon!!!!! Our summer flowers have all started to seed and our summer visitors have gone poof! The garden is unnaturally quiet and I miss the calls of the robin, orioles, grosbeak, flycatcher, catbirds, etc.
I think I have finally got my photography sorted out! I bought a cheap little folding lightbox with LED lights that connects into my MacBook for power. I don't have any 12x12 paper so, am trying to make do with 6x6! So, it's going to take a little time for me to work out how to position the cards, etc. The cards certainly look better than they have the last week or so when I was trying to photograph in the basement! Let me know what you think!
I'll be back tomorrow with my Paper Players card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
