Forever Blossoms and Peony Garden for Atlantic Hearts #380

Happy Saturday!

I managed to escape to my crafting cave today.  It was a good day to be there.  It has been really muggy and very overcast and rainy.  So Charlie and I spent some quality time - he on the chair fast asleep and me playing with inks and stamps.  I found some inspiration across at AtlanticHearts.  They always produce sketches that force me to stretch my creativity and I love that.  Here's this week's sketch:

I decided to ink up my Forever Blossoms flower and pair that with some strips of DSP from the Peony Garden set and make use of the Dazzling Diamonds and the Brick and Mortar embossing folders.  I used some old card stock that has some flecks in it.  I swear it has been in my collection for close to a decade!  I ran two pieces through the embossing folders and die cut them.  I wanted the bricks to stand out more so I added some peach and granite inks to my blending brushes and added a little color.  I love the texture from the various layers.

Here's a closeup:

I added some gems to the centers of the larger flowers and colored the petals with peach and pink copic markers and the leaves with grey and grey markers.

I die-cut the sentiment layer from a piece of the left over DSP and adhered that over the popped up flower.  Here's my card:

I really enjoyed playing with this sketch and have some other ideas brewing.  So might try and play some more tomorrow.  I do love the speckled paper with the brick and mortar embossing folder, too.

I'll be back tomorrow with my Paper Players card.  Before I go, let's take a look at what has been visiting the feeder.  I swear I NEVER tire of these guys... they make me so happy.  If you haven't been lucky enough to see a Pileated Woodpecker, you can check out all about them here.  They have an almost 30 inch wingspan!

Isn't she amazing!  What you can't see is that her mate was on the other side of the tree.  I just couldn't get both of them together in the same photo as they kept chasing each other around the tree!

Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs
