Happy Tuesday!
I played along with AAA when I was in my crafting cave this week. They have a cool CAS challenge that is asking us to do something beachy - and do it on the edge :-)
I initially had an entirely different card planned, but it just wasn't working for me. I then thought about the beach and what I love about it. And, I have to say, it isn't sitting cooking my skin! Those days are LONG gone. Note to my younger self: everything they tell you will happen when you spend too much time in the sun will happen.... and when you get into old age you will regret it! Am I the only one who bought into the idea of baking oneself on aluminum foil wearing nothing other than a teeny-tiny bikini and my limbs caked in cooking oil???!!! Yes, it really was a "thing" back then!
Anyway, I totally digress. One of the things I love about the beach - especially some of the wonderful parts of the coast I have visited in the US are the lighthouses. So, I decided to go with Sailing Home instead.
I stamped the lighthouse onto a card base and colored it with my Copics. I then took my blending brush and some Pool Party ink and blended the background. The rock part of the stamp didn't extend far enough down, so I improvised with a copic marker. Here's my card:
Pool Party is quickly becoming my go-to color for sky backgrounds. I much prefer it to the one I used to use - Broken China Distress Ink. It's a softer hue and I've come to love how I can start off really light and then get darker in areas when I need to. It takes a little patience, but it really pays off. My cheap makeup blending brushes make it so easy!
Before I sign off, how about a look at what has been at the feeder? Isn't he just gorgeous????
We have felt so blessed to be able to attract them during the breeding season. They are such a wonderful, bright, sunny flash of color and their trills are missed when they leave!
I'll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

He is so handsome!!! I hope it is a "he". Usually the male partner is more beautiful than the female.
