Love of Leaves for Festive Friday and Case This Sketch

Happy Saturday!

Day 3 of my vacation and I got to spend a little time in my crafting cave.  For today's card I used Stampin' Up! Love of Leaves and played along with the sketch at CTS and the inspiration list at Festive Friday:

I went with leaves, gold, stitching (and brown)

I played around with some Cajun Craze ink and watercolor paper.  By layering the levels of water and drying in between, I was able to get a little depth on the water color paper with the ink.  I then splattered some gold watercolor ink on top and die-cut the leaf.  Here's a closeup:

I love the richness of the Cajun Craze with the gold!  I ran a piece of vanilla card stock through my Big Shot with the brick embossing folder and added some pale orange blending behind where the leaf was placed.  I stamped  a sentiment from the Butterfly Gala set and die-cut it with the smallest rectangle from the Stitched Rectangles set.  I popped the leaf and then popped the sentiment on top of it.  I die-cut the vanilla layer with the largest of the rectangles and mounted it onto a piece of Cajun Craze card stock. Here's my card:

I used the negative die-cut that was left as a stencil for the inside of the card and also for the envelope.

On a personal note:

OK.  It's cold!  It feels much more like October than September.  I'm sitting in my craft cave wearing a sweater!  We seem to have gone from the middle of summer to fall over the last couple of days!  Our wildflower garden continues to host lots of insects and the occasional butterfly, as well as topping up the hummingbird.  It's wonderful to see them flitting around and drinking the nectar.  Even though the garden is really going to seed there are some plants that are still flowering like the Joe Pyeweed and the blackeyed susan.  We have had more flowers in the garden this year than in any previous year and it has been wonderful to look at it!

I'll be back tomorrow with my Paper Players card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift today.

Hugs

Jaydee

This is wonderful, Jaydee. I especially love that brick background and the gold splatters. Wonderful idea to use the negative cur for the envelops. Thanks for playing at Festive Friday!

Marina . . . from far Africa!!!

We always get ideas from you . . . I keep some negatives, but had never used them this way. Me, too, I can feel a difference in the weather . . . yesterday I went to work in the garden with a cotton turtleneck so the insects would not bite me.

Colleen, thanks so much! I don't play around with Cajun Craze generally, but I think I felt the need because it feels so much like fall! Hope you are staying safe and well!
