Happy Monday.
I have a card to share with you tonight made with one of my favorite Stampin' Up! sets - Poinsettia Petals. I've made multiple cards with this set this year and tonight's card is starting to be one of my favorites. I am trying to use up some of the gorgeous DSP I have collectd over the years. It seems such a waste to "keep saving it"! I pulled two pieces of paper from the SU Brightly Gleaming from 2019. I LOVE the colors, but the patterns are a little strong. So, I decided to mute them with a piece of vellum over the top. That softens the pattern and allows the poinsettia to still shine.
Once again, I decided NOT to create a red poinsettia - and pulled the color from the muted colors of the paper. I have to say, I LOVE it in this color. I also decided to lift each of the layers of petals with some foam tape. I don't generally do that as I like to make sure that the cards that I send can actually be sent thru the post office. However, this card is for hand delivery as part of Meals on Wheels and we were told it was totally OK to go ahead and add some height :-)
Here's a closeup of the color and you can see how the leaves are separated and you can see where the color inspiration came from.
I love the gold embossed leaves with the water coloring - it adds a softness that you don't get with Copics. The Neenah Solar White 110# will take a little bit of water and I used very little for these leaves.
We were told that the inside had to be empty, so I don't have an inside shot for you. Here's the full card:
You can see I added another gold element with a piece of metallic gold card stock underneath the sentiment layer. I used the SU stitched rectangle dies for the DSP, vellum and sentiment layers.
On a personal note:
I caught the sun setting in the wetland a couple of week's ago. The whole area was a strange sort of orange-brown - everything. Trees, grasses, water, etc. It was only when I went onto the deck and looked closely that I noticed the deer. You can hardly see it because the color of it's coat matches its surroundings so closely. She wasn't happy with me, so started to high tail it. Consequently, the photo I got was out of focus - but she had gone by the time I tried to take another shot.
I did get to spend some time in my craft room yesterday and will be there again tomorrow. I'm trying to finish up the Christmas and Hanukkah cards for the seniors. This week I will also finish up the cards for the kids - as well as our own Christmas cards!
I'll be back tomorrow with another Christmas card for you - actually, it will be variations on a theme :-) In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Hilda, so glad you liked it. AH.... HOSTAS - they are like a magnet for the deer! We ended up spraying ours - but they still managed to eat the flowers! But... I bet you enjoyed seeing your deer thought :-)

I love this stunning card, Jaydee, and in every way, especially the gold embossing on vellum. Always love your nature pictures. Earlier in the year, we had a young deer come to feast on our hostas in the backyard around noon. It must have liked them and brought his entire family the next few nights for a hosta buffet and then they were gone...the deer and the hostas!! Animals and birds are so much fun to watch. Happy Thanksgiving to you.
