Happy Monday!
Festive Friday have another great challenge and I couldn't wait to play along. I needed to make a Christmas card for our amazing postal worker. Really.... it doesn't matter if its -47 degrees or +115 degrees, postie is out there every day delivering mail. This year has been particularly tough and I know our postie has worked some really long hours, so I decided to use the Festive Friday inspo board to create a card using several new goodies: Budding Beauties Winter, Robin and Wren, Nordic Frames and Snowflake stencil - all part of my anniversary gift from Lou.
For my card I went with Holly Leaves, Red and Green. I used the Holly Leaf from the Budding Beauties Winter set along with one of the other stamps. I used the snowflake stencil to create a muted pattern around the edge. The little wren was one that I had sitting in my stamp set and I thought his red beak and feet would work well as an additional red for the challenge. I used the Nordic dies to create the base and the label. I wanted some texture to the layer that the elements would sit on, so used my Stampin' Up! Dazzling Diamonds embossing folder and I blended some Pool Pary ink over it so that you could really see the detail. To up the "red" even more, I chose to use red for my sentiment.
Here's a closeup of the snowflake border:
And here's another closeup showing the Holly and berries:
Talking about snow..... it's the 14th of December - and this is the snow that we have on the ground!
Err.... something wrong with this picture! This photo was taken on Sunday morning.... luckily we had a flurry so we now have a very light covering of snow. But nowhere near what we should have at this time of year.
One of the visitors that we have had over the last couple of years - is this handsome boy and his little entourage:
They are the flightiest of things. The slightest movement and these guys take off to the middle of the wetland. It is impossible to get a photo of them without taking it through the window. But... I love to see them - and hear them.
I'll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Beautiful! Love that little bird on the branch. The foliage and berries are so pretty. I had a pheasant once in my yard and they are so beautiful. THank you for playing along with the Festive Friday Challenge

Are those pheasants? Last year I had one that kept attacking a basement window. I’m sure he saw his own reflection, and thought it was another male. It sounded like the window was going to break, so I covered the window. No matter what I did, I couldn’t find any other way to get the pheasant to stop, so I assumed they weren’t shy birds. I love all your bird pictures, and the information about them. I’m not from your area, so it’s fun to see some birds that I don’t have here, and to learn about them. Would you mind including the type of bird when you post them? Thank you. I love the bird pictures as much as your cards.
