Hand in Hand for Paper Players #523

Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous Ann's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a wonderful color challenge for us.  For my card I pulled out some goodies that came as part of my gift card from The Greetery courtesy of my darling hubby!  I used the Hand in Hand set and a couple of stencils - Pathway and Fir & Foliage 1.    Here's Ann's colors:

I decided to use brown as my neutral as I wanted to use a couple of different shades of brown.  I used an brown for the hair on both the male and female as well as the tree and pathway and more orangey-brown for the male male jacket.  Blackberry Bliss was used for the boots of the female, Moonlight was for the jeans on the male and Bumble Bee was the coat on the female.  However, when I photographed the card - the jeans look more like royal blue than Moonlight... so I have no idea what happened!

I love this stamp set - it is just so evocative and there are some amazing samples on The Greetery website showing you how you can use this set for Copics, watercolor, etc.

I stamped, colored and die cut the female and male and used the stencils for the pathway and tree.  I adhered the die-cut elements and added an off-kilter sentiment.  I didn't think it needed anything more than a simple sentiment.  Here's my card:

I hope you will join us and play along this week - we would love to see what YOU create.  If you are looking for some inspiration, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:

On a personal note:

I have no idea where this week went.  Work is insane and even more people are being laid off over the next few weeks.  So, I found it almost impossible to get to update my blog.

I did promise you a couple more photos of our decorations - which are just about to be taken down! :-)  I had a little fun with the Christmas lunch table - mixing our Versace dinnerware (a wedding present!) with whimsical napkins from Rae Dunn and deer headbands I bought for us!

One of the things I did this year was buy an antiqued tiered tray - never heard of that decorating trend before!  However, once I discovered it, I loved the idea of it.  I bought some goodies for the Christmas decorations for it and will be making some for the rest of the year.

The red truck was one of my favorite purchases - the doors open and the steering wheel moves along with the wheels!  I wanted a tree for the back of it, but ended up with wooden presents instead!  I'm going to fill it with little hearts for Valentine's and Easter Eggs for Easter!

The Elf on the tray has been making an appearance on my blog since 2012.  If you want a trip down memory lane you can check out this blog post. Several of us were doing posts about elf antics for the kids :-)  Anyway, I took him out of hiding and put him on the tiered tray. The tray sits on the corner of our island, so we get lots of time to enjoy it!

We got these large lanterns and put one on either side of the fireplace.  That lump in the middle is Chester's bed!

One of my favorite rooms is the dining room.  It's not a big room, but we love it.  However.... we decided to change the color and those dreadful squares of color have been on the walls for a couple of months (errr.... since summer!) and we still have to decide on a new color!

Dining Room (1 of 1)-2

Our "relaxation room" has a very different feel - much calmer and no red anywhere.  We sit here to read and relax away from the TV and it's wonderful to just sit there and look out over the wetland.

I'll be back tomorrow with another card and some wildlife photos for you.  Yep!  I actually managed to get out and take some photos of the wetland (looking gorgeous after the frozen fog) and some wildlife!

In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

Such a fabulous card, Jaydee! Love that stamped image and you really brought it to life with your gorgeous shading. Love seeing those decor photos. Your tiered tray is so fun. I've also been resisting the urge to get one but you just convinced me. Your dining room light fixture is stunning and if you are renting out time in that relaxation room, put me down ofr an afternoon. So peaceful!!

I love the way you used your combination of stamps to create a little scene this week Jaydee - so clever and evocative of walking through a John Waterhouse painting! Love your home decor and your tiered tray looks like a great addition.
