Sweet Ice Cream for Festive Friday and Freshly Made

Happy Thursday.  I can't believe it's Thursday already!

I made a quick card for the fabulous challenges across at Festive Friday - It's Ice Cream week! and FreshlyMadeSketches.  Here's the inspo list from Festive Friday - I went with pink, brown and dry embossing.

And here is the sketch from FreshlyMade, which I turned vertical instead of horizontal.

I love the DSP that accompanies the new Sweet Ice Cream set from Stampin' Up! but when I played with it I realized it is a pretty intense pattern.  My original intention had been to use some of it for the piece behind the focal point from the sketch, but it really did overwhelm the clean and simple use of the Ice Lolly that I had created.  Or.... Ice Pop, Freezer Pop, Popsicle to my NA friends :-)  I wanted the image to be front and center and the paper was too distracting.  So, I saved the paper for another card and decided to create the vertical piece with some blending on a piece of card stock run through my Big Shot with my favorite SU embossing folder.

I stamped the wooden stick and colored it with Copic markers and pencils to add a little texture.  I stamped the parts of the ice lolly and added some shimmer and shine over the top - although you can't see that in the photo.  One of the stamps from the sets is a dot set - and I added that to the lolly and decided to use it on the focal point layer as I liked the added interest from it.

The embossing folder is becoming one of my go to tools for adding texture.  It adds just enough texture without distraction.  Now, for those of you who have been with me for a while, you will be shocked at my color choices.  PINK AND PURPLE!  I don't think I have ever made a card with those colors before!  But, as this is going off to the kids in hospital - I thought there were some tweenager somewhere that would appreciate these colors!

Here's my card:

On a personal note:

As I write this blog post, the snow is slowly falling and it looks so pretty.  We were visited by our white squirrel and I managed to get a quick shot of him/her looking for seed under the cypress tree.

It was tough getting a shot of him as he was moving so quickly - and, he's pretty hard to see in the snow!

The wetland looks so pretty with the snow:

The deer love to root around under the feeders to catch whatever the birds might have cast down on to the floor.  I managed to catch a late afternoon shot of these two doing exactly that.

I'll be back on Saturday morning with my next Addicted to CAS card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs
