Seaside Treasures for Paper Players #551
25 July 2021
Happy Sunday.
It's the fabulous Ann's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week - and it's sketch week.
I don't generally create cards without a sentiment, but one of the agencies that I'm sending cards to wanted bright patterned papers with no sentiment. So, I used some of the fabulous SU papers and my stamps from a very old set from Fun Stamper's Journey called Seaside Treasures. At the end of it, I still really, really, really wanted to add a sentiment! But, I made do with the stamped script behind the focal elements!
Here's my card:
I hope you will join us and play along with Ann's challenge this week. As always, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:
On a personal note:
Well, my zen-ness from my vacation is still holding on (just!) So, it must have been a good time away :-) Talking about away - our favorite summer visitors have left! They came, they ate, they bred, and they left! I really miss the sound of the Orioles and the Grosbeaks when they leave. Now we wait for the ones that went north of us to come thru on their way back down south. I find it amazing that they travel for thousands of miles to nest in our garden for two months and then leave again. BUT... we love having them. They really do brighten up the woodland.
Our front door wreath has another 3 babies! yes, the Robin's decided to brood for a second time. We love watching the three little heads bob up and down everytime Mom or Daddy Robin come close. We've never had then nest a second time in one summer - and we are so happy to have them.
Talking about threes.... our camera caught a mama racoon and her three babies on the deck the other night. The video was fabulous as she was teaching them how to climb up the deck rail to get to the bird bath to drink. It was fabulous watching them play around in the bird bath splashing water around, running it through their little paws and learning all about this wet stuff! I can't tell you how many times I played that video - it was delightful.
Luckily the Catbird is still around and loves visiting the jelly feeder:
I just love that rust colored belly!!
I managed to escape the heat yesterday and played with inks, paper and stamps in my craft room. I was catching up on my upcoming challenge commitments and am hoping to do the same today. It's the coolest place in the house and with ANOTHER week in the 90s with high humidity, I'm trying to escape to cool places as often as possible. At least we did have a fabulous storm on Friday night that brought some much welcome rain - but added to the humidity!
If you are wondering how hot it has been - ask the poor candles! We are thinking they are perfect for Halloween!
I'm hoping to be back in the week with a couple of cards and hopefully some photographs. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

What an absolutely stunning card, Jaydee! It is perfect without the sentiment. I love the colors you used for the starfish and shells...and how you arranged them. The agency will LOVE adding this beauty to their stash. Thank you for making my sketch shine! Have a wonderful week, and stay cool!!!

Your seashells are perfect, especially with that lovely DSP peeking out and the scripty background And those poor candles! We had one like that in college...left it on the radiator one day while we went to school...what a mess!

Love the beachy theme! I'm not a huge pink fan but I absolutely love pink when it's paired with navy! Your card definitely hits the mark! I know it will be appreciated by by organization you're donating to! Hope you have a cooler week!

Sounds like you have quite the entertainment with wildlife around your home, Jaydee. I always enjoy your antidotes and photos. Your beachy card is fabulous too! Love the colors and the script background, which adds just enough contrast but not too much to take away from the seashells. Have a great week and try and stay cool!

Jaydee, this is so pretty! I love the beautiful shades of paper and those fabulous seashells. No sentiment leads to a card for any occasion! I am LOL at those candles. I do think they are perfect for Halloween! Have a great week!

I love the brightly coloured shells against the pink Jaydee. I agree it sometimes feel strange to have a sentiment-free card, but I'm sure this one will be appreciated and well received - and would work for so many occasions as a result. Glad you are still feeling zen - hold on to that feeling!

Jaydee, what a beautiful card and amazing color choices. I love the pop of blue. You created a subtle textured background that is a perfect canvas for your shells. Hope you're enjoying your week.

I love the way you used the three elements at the back of the sketch Jaydee and those shells are just beautiful. Glad you had a great vacation - you can start dreaming about the next one now! Love reading about the birds in your garden. The blackbirds in my tiny garden seem to have finished and gone now but I have three little robin fledgings hopping about and it is so lovely watching them! Had to laugh at the candles and yes, perfect for halloween! Vicky x
