Round About Winter for Atlantic Hearts and Card Concept
23 December 2022
Happy Friday.
Yesterday I needed a break from genealogy research and I could hear my crafting goodies calling my name! As I am not crafting much these days I needed some inspiration and I found it across at Atlantic Hearts for their sketch and The Card Concept for the colors. The sketch at Atlantic Hearts inspired me to use my favorite new die-cut from The Greetery called Round About Winter. You can see the last card I made with this set here. It's very different to today's card!
Here are the sketch and inspiration challenges:
I love this sketch and the rich colors from The Card Concept reminded me of a piece of scrap plaid paper that I have been saving forever. It was from SU about 3 years or so ago - and I love it. I really wish they had made more of it :-) The dark and lighter reds and the deep green from The Card concept are all captured in that one piece of plaid, but I tried to incorporate them in the Cherry Cobbler cardstock base and the lighter red of the colored rhinestones.
Here's my card:
I joined two of the die-cuts together and then added the rhinestones on top with some glue underneath to make them stick better. The card base looks a little brighter than the actual card. Cherry is a deeper, richer red - but I just couldn't quite capture it properly!
On a personal note:
Well, I finally managed to get away from work a few days later than anticipated. I finally finished up on Tuesday afternoon instead of Wednesday last week! But, my work PC is now powered down and locked away and I won't look at it again until the 3rd of January :-)
Like many of you, our weather is a little chaotic to say the least! It's howling winds around around -31 with wind chill. I'm watching a little chickadee trying to find some food on the suet feeder, but I think the suet is frozen solid. We can't get out to add more food to the feeder as the deck door is frozen solid and we cannot open it! The snow is packed about 8-10 inches deep on the other side of the door and no amount of heat from the hair dryer or heat gun is going to melt it before the -31 temps freeze it again. So, the poor little birdies are left to fend for themselves on their winter stash until it warms up next week and we can get out onto the deck again!
I have so enjoyed reading your responses to the blog candy question about your favorite memories for Christmas. When I share the winner of the blog candy on my blog on the 26th (Boxing Day), I will pull all those memories together into a single blog post and add a couple of my own to the list. I look forward to sharing that with you all.
@Jane Harrah you asked me where we got this sign that I shared on my last post.
Isn't it a fabulous piece of art? I got it online on Etsy. Luckily the creator was having a 50% off Black Friday sale. I think it's back to full price now, but maybe there will be another sale:-) Here's the link for you: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1110477742/christmas-decoration-walking-in-a-winter?ref=yr_purchases It really is beautiful!
I'll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for all of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
