Long Stem Barware for Paper Players #622
08 January 2023
Happy Sunday.
It's the fabulous Ann's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's theme challenge week. This theme was the perfect excuse for me to bring out a brand new set for me - Long Stem Barware from My Favorite Things and match it with a sentiment set from MFT called Mini Messages and More. I fell in love with this great cocktail set and was lucky enough to get it on sale :-)
Here's a sneak peek of my card:
Ann's theme challenge is such a fun one and requires an element I rarely use - tags :-)
I was really tempted to make the tag the focal feature. However, there was one small problem....... I don't have any real tag dies anymore!!! ooooops :-) So, I had to make do with the tiny tag that was included in one of the new sets I got from MFT. It came as part of the Crafty Hands card kit and is called Paper Goods Die-namics. I paired it with the Long Stem Barware dies. I had such fun coloring these cocktails! I blended some blues together for the background and then stamped a background stamp from The Greetery called Ticker Tape that I inked up with silver ink.
I die-cut an oval in the front and add the hands from the Crafty Hands die set to look as though they were holding the glasses. I love the way it turned out. For the tag element, I used the tag from the Paper Goods die-namics and a sentiment from the Mini Messages and More set.
Here's my card:
I really had such fun coloring all of these elements, including the three different types of olives :-) I hope you will join us and show us your take on our tag challenge. As always, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you, including from our brand new 2023 guest designers, Suzy, Fran and Tara. They are incredibly talented and I am honored to be crafting beside them this year. Welcome to all of you!
On a personal note:
Well, it certainly looks a lot like winter in our neck of the woods. We had had a wonderful amount of snow and after the last storm it really looked like a winter wonderland. A few of our storms in the last couple of weeks began with freezing rain and then snow and that's when it really begins to look like a wonderland. Here are a few photos I took from our windows and it was such a cool grey sky that the colors look really blue/grey:-)
The redbellied owns the feeder:
I spent hours waiting for the cardinal to arrive. Seriously, what looks better than a cardinal in an ice storm. NOTHING! However, he didn't arrive. So, I had to make do with the pop of red from the redbellied.
There are no green trees outside..... and we can't have a normal Christmas tree inside because of the cats. There's something about cats and Christmas trees that don't quite work together! So, I found a fake tree and Lou and I loved it. The best thing about it..... only one of the cats tried it out - and only once :-) I also found some tiny baubles to fit on it. We loved the way it looked during the day - and loved it even more at night. We put it onto a barn door that it just a blank space!
Here's the tree during the day:
And then how much more dramatic it looks at night:
I love how magical it looks at night! Sadly, it was packed up this morning to use again at Christmas 2023 :-) But, we really appreciated it every night over Christmas.
I'll be back during the week (hopefully) to share another card with you. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

I just love the detail on your fun birthday card this week but think it might just have been eclipsed by those wonderful snow scenes and your Christmas tree - I love it! Happy new year greetings to you!

Jaydee, your card is fabulous! The colors are so striking. The cocktails are amazing - what fun dies! I love your tree, by the way. Maybe I should consider something like it for our Christmas next year. We were in St. Paul for a dog show this past weekend. I waved as we passed through Rochester!!! Thank you for rocking the tag challenge!

OH, I love the card! The colors and the hands are perfect. I so wish I could color like that! As for the Woodpecker, he was beautiful. Walking in a winter wonder land for sure! I saw a cute idea for a Christmas tree from a friend that was going away and couldn't have a real tree and didn't want to put up her big fake tree. She took a tomato plant frame and put her Santa hat on top with her Christmas cards and a bit of fake greenery. It was perfect. I will show her your tree. That was perfect also! Clever people!!

I want a Christmas tree like yours. Absolutely beautiful and so fun. Who needs a stand alone tree! Your card is so original and I love how you did the hands holding the cocktails. The background is gorgeous with the silver ticker tapes on that beautiful blue background. Yes you did get some snow and thanks for sharing your photos to prove it!
Happy New Year to you and Lou!
