Gathered with Love for Paper Players #627
12 February 2023
Happy Sunday
It's the fabulous Ann's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's color week. I used Gaathered with Love from MFT. Here's a sneak peek:
And here are Ann's colors for this week:
Now I am not a pastel girl and I am not a fan of crumb cake, but I decided to pull up my big girl pants and get over myself! After all, that's what challenges are for - to push you out of your comfortable little comfy zone where you have fluffy bunny-ear slippers, overly-large fluffy jumpers and baggy-at-the-knees comfortable pull-on pants, a large mug (not pretty little china cups) of tea and a warm oh-so-melty chocolate brownie! Or.... is that just MY idea of comfy:-)
Anyway, after that little digression where was I going? Oh, yeah to find out how I was going to use these colors! In the end I decided floral - even without a green. I decided Crumb would be my neutral. Luckily I had just received a new MFT set called Gathered with Love and decided the colors would be perfect for that. I'm creating cards for charity and we were asked to send cards with no sentiment on the front. So, this little tag with the xo stamped in it worked!
I stamped the image and then colored with Copic Markers. I didn't have exactly the right colors, so had to match as closely as I could. I used the Saffron in the middle of the poppies and the balmy blue around the arrangement. The Crumb Cake was used on the leaves.
Here's my card:
The problem with the light in our current apartment is that it is north facing light. So on days like today, my cards take on a decidely blue hue and there is no amount of messing around with my photo editing software that seems to be able to fix it. As the light from the new apartment gets south, west and east facing light, I'm hoping I can get a decent place to take photos.
I hope you will join us and play along with Ann's color challenge. As always the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:
On a personal note:
No packing yet! We are trying to hold off packing until about two weeks before we move and just enjoy the last few weeks we have in this apartment. As I won't have a craft room as I have had here, I am utilizing the little den area in the open space and I've spent time trying to work out how I am going to make it work. It's going to take some creative space planning, but I am looking forward to having an area with direct daylight. Maybe then I won't have any more excuses not to do some coloring and painting!
I'll be back later in the week with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

I think you made these pastels work beautifully this week Jaydee - I especially like the way you used the blue to give your arrangement a fresh hue and really highlight it against the white. I think photographing our cards is a challenge for most people - I know I'd like to be better at it too. Hope you are having fun planning your new craft space - I'm sure you will make it work!

Good morning, Jaydee! For someone who is uncomfortable with pastels, you pretty much killed it on this challenge! I know all about searching for the best light. I do my photos with my cell phone, and they often come off with a blue tint - unless I have a lot of red in my card or envelope, and then it's all pink. It drives me nuts. If I don't remember to tell you before then, good luck on your move!

Clean and beautiful, Jaydee! Such a wonderful use of the challenge colors! I completely understand having the right light for taking pictures. I have a terrible time taking pictures in my old house. I am excited to hear how you make your new space work for you. Have a wonderful week!

Jaydee, I am !00% in support of your comfy zone! Your card is just delightful. I love your coloring. The shading and layers of colors is beautiful. I like how you added the blue -it really makes the image stand out.

Your pastel coloring of this floral is so beautiful Jaydee. Even if the lighting didn't seem to work as well as you'd have liked (I struggle with the same issue),I think it turned out wonderfully! Good luck on your move - it's always such a pain, but hopefully your new home will give you a good creative space!
Hugs,
Stef
