Matilda and her Swing for Festive Friday challenge #130

Happy Friday.

It's another fabulous challenge for you at Festive Friday this week.  Festive Friday is a card making and crafting challenge where we offer up an inspiration list of words to get your creative juices flowing.  The words are attached to an international holiday and this week's challenge is International Children's Books day.  A holiday I can certainly get behind!  The INSPO list inspired me to ink up a very old stamp called Matilda and her Swing from Stamping Bella.  Here's a sneak peek:

And here is our challenge badge showing our inspiration words:

I created and photographed my original card and then decided it needed a little something-something.  I actually think I prefer the second card, but I had already committed to my first card and had placed in our in Festive Friday album ready for publication:-)   I used The Greetery Arches die to create an aperture and and old brick stencil to create some interest on the outside - I was trying to make it feel like a secret garden, where Matilda had gone through a gate in the door and found a little paradise and a wonderful swing :-)

Here's my initial card:

Here's my second card.  For this one I die-cut an additional arched piece to make it feel as though it was the frame from the gate that Matilda had gone through.   I prefer this version as it frames the scene better and I think helps to focus your eye more on Matilda herself.

As always, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you.  I hope you will play along with us, we would love to see what you create from our INSPO list!

On a personal note:

Well, we arer in the new apartment.  Yesterday was a day that felt more like a movie from The Three Stooges - but more about that on Sunday.  At least we will remember the move and have something to laugh about :-)  However, it is one of the reasons why I am so tardy getting this post up!!!

I'll be back on Sunday with my Paper Players card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

I hope you will love your new home. Your card is so cute; love the black arched one. Hugs.

Jaydee, what a darling card! I really like both your cards, but I do see the emphasis on the arch and Matilda in the second one. Hope everything goes well as you settle into your new apartment. Blessings, Beth :)
