Tear Strip Tag - Valentine for Paper Players #633
26 March 2023
Happy Sunday.
It's the fabulous Anne Marie's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's sketch week. I loved this sketch and it took me a while to decide what I wanted to do with t. In the end, I decided to make a friendship card using a die I received free as part of an order from My Favorite Things. It's a hinged heart and was the perfect way to incorporate a sentiment on the front and a place to add a personal message on the inside. I also got to use some SU paper I got on sale. Here's a sneak peek:
Pink and purple are not my normal go to colors, but this DSP from SU inspired me to get outside of my comfort zone!
I began by die-cutting the hinged heart and adding a sentiment from the Typewriter Sentiments Friendship stamp set on the outside. The XOXO is from The Greetery and is part of the Tear Strip Tag Valentine sentiments. I die-cut the two pieces of DSP with old rectangle dies from MFT. The card came together really quickly and the sketch is so versatile that it will definitely be on my keeper list!
Here's my full card:
I hope you will join us and play along with Anne Marie's sketch. we can't wait to see we you create. As always, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:
On a personal note:
Well, we are down to the last handful of boxes and those will be going into storage as they contain Christmas and Fall decorations. It's taken a few days to get everything into place and we are still opening and closing drawers to find where we put things! I also still find myself going to the right of the stove to open the fridge and am a little surprised everytime I do that when I find the fridge is now on the left :-)
We are thoroughly enjoying the bright, warm sunlight from a south facing apartment and, secretly, I am hoping that my card photos will no longer have the blue hue that this week's card has. The northern light in the old apartment played havoc with any card that had hints of blue in it and there was nothing I could do to fix it! My crafting area is set up and the new cupboards from Ikea are erected and in place. I couldn't use the old cupboards I had in the other apartment as they diidn't fit into the alcove in what has become my crafting space. However, the cabinets have been put to good use in other areas of the apartment, so were not wasted. :-) I am hoping to get to play this week. I was finishing setting up the area and am amazed by how bright it is and how the sunlight streams in during the late afternoon. I absolutely didn't need any extra lighting on my desk! No more excuses for coloring as the light is perfect for it!
Lou is off to the old apartment today to bring out the last of the goodies - mostly art work and then I'll be going tomorrow to do a final clean before handing over the keys. I am still trying to work out how I am going to ever get comfortable sitting on the balcony on the 14th floor! It was bad enough on the 5th in the old apartment, but this is 9 floors higher. Considering I suffer from a mild case of acrophobia and the railing doesn't have metal uprights, just glass.... it's going to take a while before I can do anything other than hug the back of the balcony! I do love being able to see both sunrise and sunset from the apartment though:-)
I'll be back later in the week. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
Card recipe:
- Stamps: Tear Strip Tags Valentine - The Greetery. Typewriter Sentiments Friendship - MFT
- Dies: Hinged Heart - MFT. Tear Strip Tags - The Greetery
- DSP: Sweet Talk - Stampin' Up!
Such a fun card Jaydee! I love the cheery colors and the DSP is so perfect with that adorable hinged heart. Glad to hear the boxes are almost unpacked (with the exception of the seasonal decor). I did a double take at the 14th FLOOR though! Eeek! I'd be struggling with that balcony, as well. although I'm sure the view from inside the house is fantastic!!

Hello, Jaydee, I love friendship cards and this one is definitely a keeper! That hinged heart would also be great at Valentine's Day. Anyway, you did Anne Marie's layout proud. And congrats on your new home!
Xoxo, Fran

I have some of these papers Jaydee and this card is a lovely way to showcase them. Love the hinged heart too - clever! Glad you are settling in, even if the balcony is taking some getting used to!
