Ring Me for Paper Players #635

Happy Sunday

It's the fabulous Joanne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's color week!  Joanne chose colors that I don't use often - although..... I have certainly made multiple cards using these shades in the last two weeks!  I think I must be really craving spring :-)

I was REALLY tempted to go with flowers, but decided to ink up a die I bought a couple of months ago on sale at My Favorite Things.  Here's a sneak peek of my non-floral card:

I think some of you might remember the old rotary phones :-)  Ah... the sound of the dial when you moved it with a pencil:-)

Here's Joanne's color choices for this week;

Pink...... what is it with me and pink these days?  Seriously, I've made more cards in the last couple of weeks using that color than in the last three years :-)

I loved this die set when I saw it at MFT and loved it even more when it went on 40% sale.  I so remember those days of being tethered to a telphone line.  In my day we used to have a little seat with a table attached in the entrance hall where the phone was housed.  No answering service.  No mobile phones.  Just you, a white pages telephone directory, a rotary phone, a little note pad for actually writing messages and a pen/pencil for writing messages, or dialing the numbers so that you didn't break a finger nail!  Oh... those were the days, my friend :-)

I die-cut the elements from white card stock and colored them with inks for the Stamp Market.  The color choice came from a piece of DSP from Stampin' Up! called Sweetheart  The most fun was building the elements of the phone!

Here's my card:

RingMe

I added some blending to the corners of the card base to add a little more depth.  I hope this card brought memories back for some of you!

As always, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:

On a personal note:

Well.  We are almost settled in.  The storage unit for all the usual accoutrement from the kitchen (paper towels, cat food, etc.) arrived yesterday so we were able to get that built and put into the storage cupboard.  All that we are waiting for now is the storage shelves for the little storage room we have rented in the apartment block (for all the seasonal stuff, suitcases, etc. etc.)  Once that is up (hopefully next weekened) we can get the storage boxes out of the spare bedroom and into the storage room.  Furniture wise, we are waiting for the delivery of two chairs and then we are done!  We still haven't put up any artwork yet - but will do that over the coming weeks.

My craft area is ready - but it needs some color/art work!  But everything is packed away.  I've never had a crafting area that is part of the living space before, so it's really important to keep everything clean and tidy.  I am absolutely LOVING all the natural light in that area though!  I'll share some photos of that space in a couple of weeks.  Another area that gets tons of natural light is the bathroom.  We have never had a bathroom that doesn't require you to turn on the lights!  The bath looks fabulous, but it is so narrow - it's the width of a plane seat in economy class!  Consequently, I haven't had a bath in it yet.  For me, a bath needs a little elbow room so that you can do the things you need to do - but it sure looks pretty!

Bathroom

All that wonderful light is fabulous on a cold winter's day.  The sun comes streaming through in the afternoon - just fabulous.  The kitchen is getting lots of love.  I promise to share some photos with you next week.  In the meantime, a quick look at the tulips on the counter top!

Tulips

It's wonderful having all that natural light in the kitchen, too!  The sun starts off in the living area and moves through the apartment to the master bedroom area in the afternoon.  We have set up to condo-in-the-sky beds for the cats.  One on the east side and one on the south side.  The love following the sun and don't seem to be in the least bit worried about hanging in the window 14 floors above the ground!!!

I took this photo at almost 5.30pm.  The sun had moved around the apartment and was firmly in the bedroom/bathroom - but Smudgie was fast asleep and as warm as a toasted marshmallow after spending the afternoon sleeping nestled up against the window!

Smudge

No green on the trees or grasses outside yet.  But, as it is going to get into the 60s and 70s next week, all we will need is a little heat and some rain and the green shoots should start to arrive.

I'm hoping to get into my crafting area tomorrow and play along with some challenges.   If I do, I will be back during the week with some cards.  In the meantime, Easter Blessings for those of you who celebrate, or Pesach Sameach for those celebrating Passover.  Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

Jaydee, you have no idea how much I love this card. My favorite Aunt had a pink rotary phone and when I got to spend the night with her I felt like a princess in that room with the pink phone. SMILE! I love every thing about this fun card! Your new place is gorgeous! I long for a soaking tub. ENJOY it! Perfect way to end a day! Warm hugs!

Jaydee, I'm with you - pink is a real feel-good color. Love your phone with all of the repeating circles. I'm going to really date myself here and tell you that when we lived at my grandparents' house for a while the phone was a box on the wall with a crank. It was a 4-party line, so all of the neighbors listened in on the phone calls - nothing very nostalgic about that!

Joanne James - The Crafty Owl

My grandma had an old rotary phone in cream and I loved it - it could only have been bettered if it had been princess pink like this one! What a fun dieset - so many memories of hours spent chatting to girlfriends! Loving the apartment photos too - looks fab!

Oh, Jaydee! Your new apartment is lovely. It looks like Smudgie loves it. And speaking of LOVING, I absolutely love your card. What a blast from the past! While our old rotary phones were always black, my Aunt Helen actually had a pink phone. Thank you for the trip down memory lane. Have a wonderful weekend!

Jaydee, your post made me smile in so many ways. Firstly, I'm so glad you are getting settled in. Moving is so tedious and I'm happy can finally just relax in your new space. It is beautiful. I love your card! I had a good chuckle at your comments about "the old days" when the phone was tethered to the wall. I always used to get in trouble because I would stretch that cord as FAR as it could possibly go to have marathon phone calls with my friends. My mom had to replace a LOT Of cords! Haha!
