Take Shape for Paper Players #643
Card ideas for Stampin' Up! Earthen Textures day 3

Earthen Textures Day 2

Happy Monday.

As promised in this post I set myself a task of making at least 10 cards with any specific set before I put it away in my crafting cupboard.  In my last post I used Earthen Textures from Stampiin' Up! on a card I made for Freshly Made Sketches and was focused on using Misty Moonlight papers from the accompanying Earthen Elegance DSP.  Today's card - card #2 in the series highlights Pretty Peacock.

Here's a sneak peek:

I really couldn't work out what color to use for the neutral and remembered I had some of the old SU naturals DSP.  I thought the off-white color with the flecks worked well with the distressed feel of the pots and florals in the stamp set, as well as the more distressed feel of the DSP.

For this card I used two of the DSPs cut into circles and then stamped and die-cut the pots and florals.  Really easy to put together.  Here's my full card:

I love the look of this set but it does pose challenges for me.  I do love the colors in the Earthen Elegance DSP, but some of the patterns are really busy for a CAS card maker, so part of the challenge was finding was I could incorporate the DSP in a way that still fit my usual style.  Mind you, in the end, I did end up pairing some of the DSPs to get me out of my comfort zone! :-)

Well, that's my card for today.  I'll be back tomorrow with another card made using the Earthen Textures stamp set.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift today.

Hugs

Jaydee

I love this set and you are giving me great ideas on how to use it. Looking forward to more cards using it.

By-the-way, for me retiring was scary but after a few weeks I learned to adjust. Now, after 12 years, I love it and am able to do things I didn’t have time for before. So, jump in and enjoy!
