Earthen Textures for Freshly Made Sketches #588

Happy Friday.

I have something different planned over the next couple of weeks!  On the last couple of days of my extended vacation I looked at my supplies and started beratiing myself that I don't use them enough.  Some of them I buy because I love them and then only end up making a couple of cards with them.  So, as retirement is on the horizon and money will be tighter, I decided things had to change :-)

So, I set myself a challenge to sit down and make at least 10 cards each of my sets before I put it away!  I began with Earthen Textures.  So, over the next couple of weeks you will be seeing a lot of this set.  10 different cards for that matter!  I will be showcasing a new card every day when I don't have a challenge commitment.  I hope you will come back and check out the others when they are posted.

For today's card I found inspiration at the new Freshly Made Sketches challenge blog.  I loved this sketch as it gave me a good excuse to use two different DSPs from the Earthen Elegance DSP which matches the Earthen Treasures stamp set.  I used one of my favorite leaves from the die-set.  Here's a sneak peek:

Oh... and here's the sketch from Freshly Made!

I started my card with the DSP and then had to decide which elements to use from the stamp and matching die-set.  In the end I went with a silver theme as I thought it worked well with the blues from the Earthen Elegance DSP.  I stamped the planter with silver ink and then heat set it with embossing powder.   I die-cut the leaves and covered those in the same silver ink and applied the same silver embossing powder.  Easy peasy!  all that was left was to add the sentiment.

I love this DSP together and thing the silver works well with it.  I hope the DT at FMS will forgive me for using a rectangle instead of a square :-)

I have to admit, I loved playing with this set.  At first I just couldn't work out what to do with it.  I found that forcing myself to use it and look at it differently really helped me to get my creative juices flowing.  Especially as I was determined to make 10 distinctly different cards!

I'll be back tomorrow with my card for Addicted to CAS - which isn't Earthen Textures and then again on Sunday for my Paper Players card.  On Monday I will post the next card of the 10 that I made using this set.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs
Jaydee

What a pretty card! I love all of the silver! It's so striking! I love your challenge of making 10 cards for each stamp set! What a great idea! I should start doing that as well! And maybe I'll do that for paper packs too! Thanks for joining us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!

I like this challenge you have made for yourself. I think a lot of us crafters could do the same, even without retirement looming! I know I've got a lot of old stamp sets that are sitting neglected and would appreciate a little love. Good luck on your adventure. And thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches with this pretty card. Silver and blue is a favorite color combo of mine - and don't worry about the rectangle, it's really just a tall square!

The silver and blue are gorgeous together! Thanks for playing along with us at FMS this week.

What a beautiful, striking card! Have yet to use my DSP and stamp set but you have really made me think of ways to use my set, thank you. Look forward to seeing your order cards.
