Himalayan Poppy for Paper Players #648
09 July 2023
Happy Sunday.
It's the fabulous Ann's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's color week! With the colors that Ann chose I just had to go floral:-)
I decided to use a set I got from Altenew called Himalayan Poppy. It's a big bold floral image and I thought it would work perfectly with the colors.
Here's a sneak peek:
And here are our challenge colors:
I stamped the image and colored it with Copic markers and colors as close to the ones that Ann chose as I could. I decided it needed a pop of black and the white on black sentiment seemed the right way to go, especially with such a large flower. I fussy cut the poppy and added some stenciling to the background and then adhered the poppy to that base.
Here's my card:
I hope you will join us and play along with Ann's challenge. We would love to see what you create with these colors. As always, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you.
On a personal note:
Well, Lou and I are back from our trip up the east coast. We didn't get to see much of the coastline as there was a major fog bank that followed us all the way up and all the way down. Luckily we had been to those areas before so knew what the fabulous coastline looked like. We did feel sorry for those who had never seen it and there was lots of grumbling when it was so foggy that the captain could not manoeuver into Newport, Rhode Island. I have never seen fog like it. It was so thick that it wrapped the ship in a curtain of white and the visibility wasn't even an inch from our balcony! It was incredibly eerie but, in some strange way, really beautiful.
In Halifax, Nova Scotia, the fog cleared just enough that I managed to get a snap shot of a tiny island and it's lighthouse just off the side of the ship.
Of course, the weather was absolutely glorious on our return to New York and we were able to see the sights in daylight that we had only managed to see at night the previous Friday.
Such glorious sunshine, you wouldn't have believed we had spent a week in peasouper fog!
I had intended to put up some of the cards I made as part of my challenge to myself to make 10 cards from one set before putting it into the cupboard. Great idea. So, what happened? Mmmmmm... I forgot to photograph them before we left! So, will be doing that in the coming week. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
