Wild & Sweet for Paper Players #656

Happy Sunday,

it's the fabulous Joanne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and I just loved her choice for the challenge!  It gave me the perfect excuse to ink up a fabullous set from Stampin' Up! called Wild and Sweet.  Here's a sneak peek:

This card was inspired by the old photographs from my younger days when everything was in black and white!  I don't often do slimline cards but thought that a film strip of the animals in the Wild & Sweet set would work really well in that format.

I stamped the images in black ink and used a My Favorite Things die that cuts out three windows for a slimline card.  I adhered the strip to a black base and heat set some white embossing powder with a sentiment from SU called Charming Sentiments.

Here's my card:

Aren't they an adorable trio? It really is such a sweet set!  As always, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:

On a personal note:

Well, I am not sure about changing out the decor to fall themed tomorrow considering it is currently almost 90 and due to reach 95 mid afternoon and tomorrow is going to be even warmer.  But, it has been our tradition for the last decade or so to change out the cushions, florals and wall signs to the gorgeous shades of fall.  I really do love the rich colors of fall but they are colors I never wear!  It's the first time we have decorated this apartment for the season, so it's going to be interesting to see how it all works out!

I'm sorry I didn't load any cards this last week, but I have spent the last week prepping for my upcoming retirement and my retirement present to myself.  Right now I am set to retire just before our Christmas cruise, that is unless  I get caught in the next round of layoffs.  They have been known to include people who are getting ready to retire, or those on leaves of absence.  I wouldn't mind, except this round of layoffs will not come with a payout!  Either way, I will be footlose and fancy free and not tethered to my desk 12 hours a day.  Oh.. what will I do with all that freedom?!  I know for sure that I will have more time to practice calligraphy, sketching and trying to make watercolor work for me!  I have also committed to getting my backside off this chair and finally doing some exercise again - considering I won't have an excuse that I have to be on a conference call!  Who knows, I might even bake and finally be able to take advantage of the fabulous counter in our kitchen!

I'm hoping to get into my craft room to make some cards today and have great intentions of NOT going out into mid-90s weather if I can help it :-)   Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee
