Celebrate in Style for Paper Players #672

Happy Sunday.

it's the fabulous Anne Marie's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's color week.  The challenge inspired me to ink up a new set that I bought on clearance from Pinkfresh Studio called Celebrate in Style.  I also decided to use a color I hardly every use - especially outside of fall - ORANGE!!!

Here's a sneak peek:

Oh... and here's Anne Marie's challenge:

Well, now I think you know why I chose orange - I always think of it as a bold color and it was the first color that came into my mind when I saw this challenge.

I started by stamping the cake and die-cutting the cake plate.  I then used the matching stencils to color in the images and used the matching dies to die-cut everything.  i used a cover plate that was also on clearance to add some texture to the background of the cake.  My Greetery Postage Stamp die was used to add a little softness to the edges. I wanted something to help ground the cake and used a die from an SU set.  I just love this die! I added some embellishments to the flowers and the card was done.

I hope you will join us and play along this week - we would love to see what you create with Anne Marie's color challenge.  As always the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:

On a personal note:

I still have to finish the post about my cousins, Ellis Island and world cruising.  It's taken a little longer than anticipated as I try to work out the best way to tell the story.  I'm hoping to get that finished tomorrow.

We are currently on our way to Tenerife and, even though the seas are a little choppy, they are considerably quieter than when we crossed the Atlantic!  We dock there on Monday.  Sadly the excursion I had planned to the top of Mount Teide has been cancelled.  They didn't say way - just that the cable car had not been open the last couple of days and was definitely not going to be open by Monday.  Such a pity.  I was dying to go up to 11.600 feet!!!!  Seriously, that's high!  So, I ended up booking a tour to Mount Teide National Park.  Even though we won't get up to the top of the volcano, at least we should be able to see it.  I'm hoping to get some decent photos on that trip.  I promise to share some photos and history.

Well, I must admit, I'm enjoying retirement :-)  Even though I hated leaving Lou to go back home, having this time to take a break between working ridiculously long hours (12-14 a day) this last decade and a half, I so needed the time to just sit back and recharge.  Old age has been catching up with me though.... my osteo-arthritis has really escalated and my right knee is stopping me from doing things I was hoping to do on this trip - like getting some exercise.  So, I am meeting with the ship's Dr tomorrow to see if he can give me a magical incjection of cortisone to keep me going and getting me back on my feet again!!!

Well, I will (hopefully) be back tomorrow with the story of Lucy Ada.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee
