Rainbows and Sunshine for Festive Friday #FF0150
05 January 2024
Happy Friday.
It's the beginning of a new year and the restart of our Festive Friday bi-weekly card making challenges. Our INSPO list for this week inspired me to create a red and gold card featuring one of my favorite tags and butterflies from Alexandra Renke.
Here's a sneak peek:
Our Festive Friday challenge features a holiday and this week we are celebrating Chinese New Year. The great thing about the Festive Friday challenge is that you do not have to create a project that is specific to this holiday, all you need to do is incorporate at least 3 of the items from our INSPO list into your card. Here's the INSPO list for this week:
INSPO elements used: Red, Gold, Layers,
I began with a piece of vellum and I used an old Greetery set to stamp some scripty words over the top of. I heat set it with gold embossing powder. I used a stencil from Taylored Expressions to create the fans for the vertical panel and also heat set thos with gold embossing powder. I die cut the butterfly pieces from the Alexandra Renke butterfly set and did the same with the rainbows and sunshine tag. It was a really easy card to put together.
As always, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:
On a personal note:
Well, I am now officially retired. I can't believe it took me less than 10 minutes to clean up my work laptop getting rid of all files, correspondence, etc that I have accumulated over the last couple of decades. It seemed so strange that it took so little time to remove work items that had taken thousands of hours to build!!! But.... it sure felt good :-). Lou says I haven't gotten rid of the smile on my face since then!!!
Lou and I have completed our wonderful 12 day Christmas and New Year trip around the Caribbean and Lou has now settled back in at home and I am officially on my round the world cruise. We are currently around the North Eastern edge of Canada and trying our best to avoid and work around the very complex storm system that is heading our way. The Captain has warned us that Saturday, Sunday and into Monday will be rough going. Wind is expected to reach 11 on the Beaufort scale with swells of up to 33 feet. I know that I am sailing on an Ocean Liner that was built for this exact trip. I cannot imagine what it was like back in the day when our ancestors were travelling in ships that were not as well equipped and were doing the atlantic crossing that took weeks and not days! They were quite amazing!
I won't have much to report over the next couple of days as we traverse the North Atlantic, but I will have some cards coming up over the next couple of days as my design team challenge sites start up again for 2023.
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and that 2024 brings you and your loved ones all the wonderful things that they wish for. I'll be back tomorrow. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
